Is it necessary to re-enter employee information into the system under new employment status?

If a full-time employee is terminated and subsequently rehired as a casual employee after one month, would it be necessary to re-enter their employee information into the system under the new employment status

    Hi @sherina79,

    We recommend that you rehire the employee instead of creating a new employee record. Once you have rehired them, you should have no issue in changing the type of employment to casual within the payroll system.

    Here is where you can find the Rehire employee button:

    Where you will be prompt with the new start date for the employee and go through the details once again but change the employment type to casual. Another reason we do want to rehire instead of creating a new employee record is it can cause issues with STP and employee numbering when sending it to the ATO, it will not happen when you are rehiring the employee instead.
