Hi, we had a casual who last worked for us on 17.07.25 but now it is clear they will not be returning so I terminated with no final pay (option to do later) I don't have a final pay to run so how do I notify ATO with no STP File or do I have to run a final $0 pay and lodge? Appreciate any help you can provide thanks, Bernadette

    Hi @727019

    I don't believe you will need to do a final $0 pay run if there is nothing to pay.

    If you are sure that the employee will not be returning, you will just need to lodge a EOFY finalisation with just that employee selected

    I would prefer to lodge my EOFY finalisation at end of year not during in case something should change. Surely there is a way to lodeg a termination as anything can happen between now and the end of financial year.

    @727019,

    If you're unsure, you can finalise at the end of the year, that’s just the last step required. It sounds like you’ve already marked the employee as terminated, which is the main thing.

    If anyone needs a reference, we have an example on how to terminate an employee here:

    I have maked the employee as terminated but there has not been an STP report I would have thought that there would be a way to advise no longer working for us?

    There is. With a STP submission that includes them but if there's no termination pay then just send an eofy for them either now or next year.
