Hi All, Have logged in on the Server as Admin, single user mode, to the do the latest Tax Update and got the below:

Error Code: 5 Your user account does not have the necessary permissions to access the Reckon Accounts installation folder. To proceed, please run Reckon Accounts with elevated privileges and try again.

We run 5 user Desktop Premier version. What other 'necessary permissions' is there above Administrator, Full Access granted ????

I get this message when I try to update the tax tables. I am the administrator.

Given that I have do not have any employees with a student loan, am I able to continue to do pays without this update?

    Regards

    Hi @1154226 & @Lynne_8946547

Thanks for flagging this. Can I get a bit more info from you both. Does this message appear as soon as you click the Get Latest Tax Tables option? Or does it appear after clicking Yes to the prompt to update to the latest table?

Also, @1154226 you mentioned you're using a server, can you give me a bit more info on your setup.

@Lynne_8946547 are you also running Reckon Accounts Desktop on a server environment?

Hi @Rav , it appears as soon as you click ok to prompt the update.

I run Reckon Accounts Desktop on my computer (not sure if that classes as a server environment). I am the only person that uses it.

    Hi,

I am having the same issue, the error message appears after I click the prompt to get latest tax codes & then click ok to apply changes. I am not running Reckon desktop on a server.

Thanks all, can I just confirm which version of Reckon Accounts Desktop you're all using? ie. Premier, Enterprise etc?

I am running Reckon Accounts Premier Contractor Edition. I am the administrator and have logged in as such but everytime I try to update the tax tables, I get Error Code 5 telling me that I don't have the necessary permissions to access the installation file. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

    Hi folks

Can I get you to please run the Reckon Accounts software with administrator privileges by selecting the Run as Administrator option in the start menu, or right clicking the shortcut icon and selecting the option.

Once its open, try grabbing the latest tax table update again and let me know if it works for you

Hi @Rav, We have 1 designated computer for only Reckon Accounts Software and this computer is the Administration Login only. So 1 of our 5 licenses is used for just this computer. I have checked the above and ours already has a blue dot on Run as administrator.

If I have no employees that are on a Student Loan, do I need to worry about this?

    @1154226

If you don't have any employees who are subject to the latest changes with STSL then no you don't need to update your tax tables. I would however recommend doing so just so that you're future-proofed in case the need ever arises later on.

Error Code reads: Your user account does not have the necessary permissions to access the Reckon Accounts installation folder. To proceed, please run Reckon Accounts with elevated privileges and try again.

    What does this mean????

    Hi @LeonieW

Can you let us know what you're doing in Reckon Accounts specifically when this error appears? Are you attempting to download the latest STSL tax table update?

Hi @Rav, can you please clarify how the tax tables update needs to be done where there is a server installation of Reckon Accounts desktop and 5 client installations. I had our IT service run as administrator and do the update but it only updated 1 PC. Does it need to be run on every PC individually that has Reckon installed? Also, if only a few PC's are used for payroll, is it ok to leave the others without running the tax table update?

    Hi @Wini1010

Yes, the tax table update needs to be installed on all PC's with Reckon Accounts Desktop installed that are performing payroll.

If you have some RA-installed PC's that aren't running payroll then you could potentially leave those without the update, but in the event that they ever do run payroll and have STSL-employees then they'll need to be mindful that their tax calculations will be out-of-date.
