Company File Data Missing

I have one company file and I am the only user. When I opened my company this morning I seem to be missing data from the last week or so. I have no idea how this has happened overnight? Missing transactions such as bills entered, purchase orders, invoices and quotes and bills paid. Any insights much appreciated

    Morning @Julie C

    I'm sorry to hear that.

    • Could you please confirm if your session disconnected while you were entering data in the company file?
    • Do you have a recent backup of the company file?
    • Also, is it possible that another file with the same name was used to make those missing entries?

    Thank you!

    Regards

    Tanvi

I shared our company file with my accountant yesterday, the last backup was 5/11 for the file I shared.

    Thank you @Julie C

Did you share the company file (QBW) or the backup file with your accountant?

Thanks @Tanvi_kataria, I believe it was the backup

    Hi @Julie C,

I’m sure you’ve already checked, but just to be sure, I would just double check again that you have opened the correct file, or make sure you have not been entering data an older copy of the file.

A lot of the times, I find that one of these can be the case.

If not, Tanvi would be able to investigate this for you.

    Thanks @Jason_Z

I only have the 1 company file. Both my accountant and I can see wages payments in the bank register yesterday afternoon, no other transactions that I have done are there.

I have message Tanvi, waiting on a reply, possibly looking into this for me.

I prefer to send the accountant a backup rather than share the file, and they can restore to their account. Never been happy letting accountants use my file and make changes

You can send an Accountants copy @Kris_Williams and incorporate the changes when it is finished

Yes but I prefer to do the journals myself

I’m with @Kris_Williams , entering the journals myself gives me a better understanding of what the accountant is doing
