I am IT support for a client of Reckon who uses the latest version of Reckon Accounts Plus. She uses Parallel's on Mac to run virtual Windows 11 where Reckon is installed and is forever having issues with printing. My suggestion to her is to change reckon to a version that supports native operating on Mac without any virtualization as that seems to be the common factor for printing issues.
Here's where phone support couldn't help.
She is very particular about her workflow and wants to minimize changes to it as much as possible. Out first phone call with support the rep suggested that Reckon Accounts Hosted is "Exactly" the same as her current package. Second support rep couldn't confirm that was the case and we never received a follow up call from someone who could explain it in further detail as we were told.
From what I've seen in YouTube vidoes from the Reckon YouTube account it appears that its just a cloud version of Accounts Plus that is "remote accessed", even having the File Menu bar containing "File" "Edit" "View " "List" etc. in the top left corner of the window. Is this the case or are there significant differences that aren't more obvious until actually using the software?
And a follow up Question.
The support rep suggested that its not possible to trial the software and go back to the version she was previously using. Stating that once the company file is updated to the Hosted software its impossible to go back. I asked if we backup the original file before its upgraded and still have a valid license for Accounts Plus if we can still use it and she said no its not possible.
From a computer standpoint this seems absolutely ridiculous of a thing to deny as possible unless Reckon actively makes efforts to block customers backups from being loaded into previously used versions. Is there any truth to that statement made by the support rep?
Appreciate any answers.
