I've just upgraded to new version, gone to payroll item list and there is no QE column showing.
Do I have to select this manually, if so how?

Yes, the QE column needs to be enabled on your payroll item list and you'll find info on how to do so here -

You can also add a new Super Contributions column to the payroll item list as well which might be helpful as you get your items setup for QE. Info below -

you have to go into the payroll item list and go through each one to see the qualifying earnings box, but I can check if you wish when you get back
Actually I just discovered today with the help of someone else that if you do a report on the payroll item list you can add Qualifying earnings to that report to check
That's a really good observation as well @Kris_Williams! You're right, a Payroll Item Listing report can also be modified to include the new Qualifying Earnings and Super Contributions columns.
