I have been trying to backup for over 4 hours now and its sitting on 87%.
Would this be the case? We are about to have around 200 staff fairly angry as a payrun is scheduled for today. Some assistance would be nice please.
Depends on the size of your datafile - this is what I ended up doing for a client with a massive file last year... (over 1gb!)...
a portable copy of 2016 (took less than 30 mins) - then I logged onto 2017 -
restored the portable copy (again less than 30 mins) - used a different name for the file -
then when it said to backup I clicked Cancel - then I logged in - said Yes to Upgrade and it did it!!! yeh!!!
Then I logged out - renamed the file to the old file name - then opened again and went to multi user mode... all good!
Perhaps this would get you going quicker? Hope this helps? so do Portable file in 2017 and then restore Portable file in 2018.
