Hi,

I was wondering if there is anyway to set up receipt printing through a way other than a COM port.

Anything will help :)

Or is there a way that we can utilize Com3 rather than Com1 or 2

    I don't think so.
However, you can reconfigure a USB as a com port and use that.  I have done that with a kitchen printer.
When you then install the printer you get another COM port as an option.

Com1 and Com2 are already in use at the moment and I would like a way to not use them but I haven't been able to find anything as of yet :(

Graham Boast of reconhelp.com.au posted this 12 months ago .. it should help

"POS talk directly to printers through a COM or LPT port, so the windows printing functions atre not used at all, so step 1 is to delete this as a windows printer.

Then unplug the USB cable, reinstall the virtual port driver https://download.epson-biz.com/modules/pos/index.php?page=soft&scat=36 , plug in the usb again, then check what port has been setup in the window device manager

The shot below shows a USB to Serial Adapter that has been added as COM3.  The Epson port will be different, but will similarly use a COM port.  You may have to right click > properties > port settings > advanced to check what port is assigned.  If it it using a port number higher that 8, you will to reassign it to a port number less than 8.

You should now be able to go into POS and assign the printer to this port"

    Good luck!
    I've found him very helpful

    Hi Kyle,

If you have a Senor printer from a Retail Starter Kit, you will need to install the driver from your Reckon POS CD.  Look in the support\RSK folder.

The GTP-290B3 uses a file called CDM 2.04.16.exe

the folder has a set of step by step instructions.
