The error only says "Unable to backup company file" and "Unable to commit file write operation to disk" without detail.

I would > file > utilities > verify, then file > utilities > rebuild, after you reboot your pc.

Tip. On Rebuild you have to backup the file, if it fails just cancel to skip the step. (create a copy of qbw file 1st)

    Do another Verify from file>utilities>verify

    If this fails.

Have a look at the log, regarding why it failed the verify.

    To find QBWIN.LOG
ctrl 1 then 2 > open file tab

Locate the issue in the log. And fix. (sometimes not that easy).

    Hello v,

You can send files to community@reckon.com.

    A couple of points....

Do a one off normal backup to the desktop - on the screen: When do you want to save your backup copy?, select Save right now.,

Do the logged in user and QBDataServiceUser26 have Full Control permissions to the destination location?

    regards,
    John

Remove the () from the file name, maybe a special character issue.

Error is a programming error, guessing you need to talk to data recovery.

Well, you can keep using the file as is without using backup, as I'd say the backup program doesn't handle the current file size.

So i would be looking at reducing the size of the file (compress data), or start a new one, at the start of financial year.

You can create a scheduled task to copy your file to safe storage. In replace of Backups

Data Recovery is a service reckon provides at cost $$.

This error is a com error relating to windows api.  Nothing you or I can do to fix it.  Your file size has reached the limit of a section of the software. The original software makers (intuit) puts maximum file size of enterprise version at 1GB.

I’m guessing you have been runnng this file for around 4-6 years  or longer. You need to need look at flattening the qbw file.

    File>Utilities >Clean up Company Data.

If your unsure how to proceed, engage a reckon partner.

    https://partnersearch.reckon.com/

I personally think you need to start a new file, as the amount of data in the file would be a major loss if anything happen that it became unrecoverable.

    In regard to backups

You could schedule a task for example:

    copy "D:\QBDATA\Australia (Production).QBW" "<InsertDestinationLocation>\Backup-Australia (Production) %DATE%.QBW"

Take a copy of your file, incase you lose something you dont wish to, again if you unsure maybe its not not best idea to proceed.

All the time your spending trying to sort it out, your better off getting in contact with a partner.

Continue with backup, not sure how far you backup gets before it fails, but if you see 'esc to cancel' push 'esc' it, then it will ask if you wish to continue with the cleanup. even if it fails it should ask the same thing.

And I'll leave it with you. Anymore help you will need to contact a reckon partner as stated previous. As this may help you now but it wont in the future.
