How do I change someone from a contractor (ie in contacts as supplier) to an employee?

Part of the issue I think is that this contractor was accidentally set up as a business not an individual. It now won't let me add her as an employee because she is already a contact. I have tried deleting her previous contact (which won't work as she has activity) and also making her inactive but that doesn't work either.

I'm using Reckon One and have the Payroll module

    Hi Jodie. You can't, but I would add a hyphen to the end of the contractors name so Fred Smith becomes Fred Smith- .  You can then add Fred Smith as an employee.
