Tax File Number for Minor

We have a new employee who is only 16 and doesn't have a tax file number at this stage.  Is there a number I can use for our STP file?  I seem to remember a long time ago you could use 999 999 999 for a minor.  This may have changed.  Thank you.

    Hi All


    For under 18s earning below $ 350 p/wk, the default TFN is 333333333.

    000000000 is the default for other employees who don't provide a TFN.

     

    Just a useful tip FYI ...

     

    Reckon Accounts (& Reckon Accounts Hosted) have the default TFN codes info – as well as a load of other useful reference details - within the company file:

    Under the Employees dropdown menu > Tax Table Information > Tax Table Info > Tax File Numbers link.

    Similarly under the Employees dropdown menu under Superannuation Information you can find key dates, what is/isn’t considered OTE for SGC & more!   :)

    If a payee is under 18 and earning less than 350 per w 700 per fn or 1517 per month use 333 333 333
