Set up the Employee Card for Superannuation in Accounts Hosted when using a Clearing House

We pay Employer Super quarterly to a clearing house, so should the 'Item Name' Fund at the top of the Card be our Default Super Fund and then the 'Super Details' in the second part of the card be the Employee's actual super fund details? Or should the 'Item Name' also be the Employee's actual fund?

Its up to you how you want to configure this and different Accredited Partners have different processes.  For myself and my clients:
    1.  Each super fund has its own super payroll item - eg Super - Host Plus, Super - REST etc
    2.  Each super payroll item has the SAME Supplier (called Agency for liability on the payroll item setup screen) - eg Super Clearing House
    3.  Each employee record - selects the appropriate payroll item for their super fund - Member number is entered - and Fund Name is entered (Host Plus, REST etc) plus I also enter Fund Scheme (as this is used in many reports (Host Plus, REST etc)
    4.  When processing the Payroll Liability entry - by having all with the same name (Super Clearing House) only one pay liability cheque is created - which will match the bpay entry in the bank account when processing the payment - makes bank rec much easier... but the detail breakdown for each fund is there and should match the Super Report by Fund if you want to check it... I usually print the Super Report by Employee and use that when entering super amounts into the Clearing House.
    5. The above means that the Payroll Liability Balances report isn't too huge, but is meaningful enough to be able to quickly pinpoint any payments that have become out of kilter and which employees that may relate too (mostly happens when people print off the super report as soon as the last pay for the month/quarter is processed, but then something is changed/fixed in a pay which varies the super after it has been processed through the clearing house) - general super items can then be used for multiple employees without becoming too combersome.

    Hope this helps? cheers Linda

Hi Kyle.  This is the way that I do it:
    1.  On the employee record, I only use the actual fund name to which the SGC eventually ends up at, on the basis that this is the record, including member number for the specific fund that the employee is with.
    2.  For the actual payroll item, for setting up the SGC payroll item, I use a separate SGC item for each fund that there is for all employees (others no doubt do this differently e.g. using only one SGC item)
    3.  When setting up the specific SGC payroll item, when getting to the page Agency for company-paid liability I insert (in my case) Small Business Super Clearing House, or it could be say Quick Super etc.
    4.  If using the standard Reckon pay slips, they will only show the actual name of the super fund, when using my setup.
    5.  If using the customised pay slips, which have a heap more information of them, as I do, the payroll item for SGC will show as the Super Fund, whilst in the section as to whom the payment is made, it will show Small Business Super Clearing House.  I do it this way because technically these days, we are making the actual payment to the Clearing House and not direct to the super fund.

This is great information, thank you both for your help. The only thing I hadn't done was enter our Clearing House Fund as the 'Supplier' (Agency for Liability payment) when I set up each Super Fund Payroll Item. Having only one Liability cheque to process at the end of each quarter as well as ease of marrying the payment in the bank rec will definitely be much easier now.
