Superannuation

I recently started a new company and the Reckon Hosted tutor advised my administration team that you only need to have 1 super payroll item account set up now instead of individual ones.  My question is what report will show you the break down of payments needed to be paid into the individuals funds.  The liability report on shows Superannuation, rather than Aust Super, AMP super etc etc. I always like to have something to double check too.  We use Quick Super for our clearing house, but currently manually enter the data.
I have tried to modify reports to include the Fund Name, Scheme or USI number, but these columns remain blank within the report.  Any idea on how to over come this issue?

Shelley, just to use 1 super payroll item you need to be absolutely disciplined in paying super on time all the time, you can't afford to have people not providing TFN and super details. I work in NFPs where I'm sometimes lucky to get anything and if the super becomes overdue it becomes very difficult to reconcile whose super is paid and whose is not. I've taken over organisations where historical super dates back years and it can become near impossible to sort out.

I'd keep using individual personal super payroll items, it's painful but at least you can see whose super is not paid quite easily.

If I run the super report by fund it only comes up with Cbus (which is linked to the superannuation payroll item) not the individual's fund details even though they are on the employees file. If I modify the report to include the Fund name scheme and USI those columns dont have any information in them.

Data is entered manually into the clearing house as we were warned it can be a difficult task.

    Hi,

for printing the superannuation payments by employee you can use in Reports>Employee and Payroll>Super Report by Employee. You must be carefull to use your actual payments date not payroll period dates. When I was on workshop they emphasized it to be carefull with chosing rather payroll payments dates (when the payment was actually done to employees). I use CBUS Clearing house too and then manually I pay employees superannuation in CBUS. I always check the liability cheque figure with this report to match. Hopefully it make sense and help.

    Hi Shelley

It sounds like you have just the one generic Super Item that you’ve just named “Cbus”.

Personally, I prefer to still have a separate Payroll Item per Fund.  They can still each be setup to be “Payable To” the same entity (eg “QuickSuper”) in order to generate a single payment reflecting that.

The data on the Super reports originates from the info on the employee’s record.

Each “Item Name” line listed in the Super window has its own data field info so you need to fill in all the relevant fields for each line for each employee.

If you do this now, the Pays going forward will reflect the detail on the Super reports.  The previous Pays won’t as these reports read changes in real-time.

Depending on how big a task it is (eg how many employees/pays), once you’ve set up each Fund & updated each employee’s record individually, you could edit each employee’s Pay to select the relevant new Super Fund name instead which will “refresh” the Super reports & reflect this updated info.

    Hi Shaz
in my other company files I have all the super funds set up as payroll items.  The reckon tutor recommended that the new company be set up with just superannuation as a payroll item. So I was being open minded about it.
The member number,  fund name and USI on each employees file have been filled in according to their personal super funds,  I would have thought a report could pick up on this information as well. If I can get that to happen I will  be happy.

Thanks Drahomira The report shows the totals for each employee however they are all being paid to CBus.  I actually want to know how much should go to the individual funds so I can check against the data entered into the clearing house.  Even the report by funds only shows CBus.
