I see this problem was noted in June 2019 but I can't see any resolution. I spoke to Tech support who emailed me a answer which doesn't work. Employee numbers being different. Help

@stevec21 It’s the ATO that require the consistent Employee No. in order for their data matching to work. Therefore, an employee’s number shouldn’t be changed, even when re-hired 😬

Do you Verify your Company File regularly? I'd recommend doing this & running the Rebuild 3 times (3 times seems to be the magic number for a number of fixes!)

Both of these are found under the File (along top toolbar) dropdown menu > Utilities then select either Verify Data or Rebuild Data accordingly.

I strongly support your notion of doing the re-build three times, Shaz. I have seen actual instances where problems were only fixed after that third re-build. As a matter of course, after I have completed an upgrade - both Hosted and Desktop, I always go and do my three re-builds. This is something that was suggested to us by Reckon many years ago.

Thanks for this info, i do verify my data weekly but haven't done a rebuild in I don't know how long. I recently upgraded from an older version of accounts and this is the first time I'd had this problem. Ill give it a go tonight thanks again.

Hi Steve. Just to clarify, are you using Hosted or the Desktop version? If you are using the Desktop version, I have another suggestion for you. You should find the program icon on your desktop. Right click on it and select Run as administrator.

I am experiencing problems running the desktop version and opening the desktop version the way I have pointed out, has solved the problem. This may also assist you, in this instance.

    HI John,

I run the desktop version. I'll give that a run later tonight. Thanks

Thanks everybody, Ive sorted it. Basically the newer desktop versions can't handle any discrepancy in the payroll data. I had to trawl through my employees and fix any duplications which caused a problem. Doesn't auger well if you rehire someone down the track and they get a new employee number. Names and Employee numbers can't be the different when you rehire.

    HI Shaz,

Yep i realised this all changed when STP came in although Payroll Premier allows you to duplicate still. My problme was i had old staff from over 10 years ago when tis wasn't an issue. Hand written EOM summaries meant no inconsistent employee numbers.

    Thanks
