STP submission to ATO incorrect

Hi All, I reconciled my payroll at end of 30.06.21 with the STP in Rekcon Accoutns Hosted and it was correct. I submitted my finalisation on 28.06.21. I have had an employee email me saying his summary is incorrect and he has sent me a phot of it. It bears no resemblance to the information I reported through STP in Reckon Hosted Accounts. It says that it is pre-finalisation and the figures are out by a considerable amount. After spending a lot of time on the phone to the ATO, it appears that the finalisation they recieved was for 7 employees only, not the 12 that STP in Reckon shows! I had no error messages, everything said it had been done correctly. The employee who emailed me was not included in the finalisation received by the ATO, but was in the STO finalisation I did in Reckon. Also, she said that the amounts on his summary reflect the pays they received submissions for and yet other employees who were submitted went through?

Has anybody else experienced this problem, can anyone tell me how to fix it? The ATO suggested I do an Update Event, but she said that Reckon should answer what date I was meant to do it?

ps tried ringing Reckon, but the very unhelpful Indian gentleman I spoke to said I had all the wrong details - not sure why, we haven't changed our business name or email address and I am an authorise user??

Help please........

Carol

this would be my first step - report from Reckon Hosted - payroll totals for last year. Next put payment summaries on screen and compare and mark off figures on Payroll totals report. Now go to Reckon portal and click details against the finalisation EOFY submission. Compare these figures with same report. See if that shows any anomalies.

I did read that you reconciled - not discounting that, just clutching at straws

Hi Kris, thank you for your comments, however, the problem, the ATO says, is with Reckon not submitting the correct STP information to the ATO that I have submitted through Reckon Accounts Hosted. Since using STP we do not do payment summaries, they are found by going though your individual myGov. The Payroll Totals report was the one in which I reconciled the payroll with the GL and with STP.

Yes but I still like to check the figures in the payment summaries as a further verification and still give them out if requested. It’s a good way to check allowances and RESC

Good luck sorry I have nothing else to say. Would you consider submitting the EOFY again?

Hi Kris, once again, all my payroll was fully reconciled. Do you use STP? The figures in the finalisation process are the payment summary amounts. This finalisation was reported incorrectly by Reckonto the ATO - I could not have reconciled anything else.

I understand, but have to ask the question to be able to try and help. People’s ideas of reconciling things differ, and just as you don’t know my processes I don’t know yours - possibly exactly the same. Yes I use STP for many people for many years.

I understand that the file was reported incorrectly hence my question about lodging it again.

have nothing else to suggest sorry

@Accounts Department Did you terminate the employee in RAH (including adding a Termination Date)? Were there any ETP-related amounts? If so, the Termination Date is required for these specific labels to generate.

Unfortunately, the ATO do not understand the finalisation process variations across all the different software solutions & their “it’s the software” response is the standard fallback. Unlike many of the other programs - & as per Kris’s advice - RAH still contains accessibility to the Payment Summaries feature - Currently, this is the only way to determine exactly what figures are reporting at which specific STP labels. Used in conjunction with a modified Payroll Summary - (The Payroll Totals report can sometimes be a bit out so I always use the Payroll Summary) - showing columns by Employee - will confirm YTD totals (the Payroll Summary) AND where they are actually reporting in STP (Payment Summaries)

The GL is not specifically linked to STP - How it reports in STP is determined by the setup of the Payroll Items. (Obviously all of these areas should be the same but the only way to clarify STP figures is as explained above)

    Hi Shaz

I'm not sure why you are mentioning a terminated employee - I didn't have any, nor did I have any ETP's. I didnot have this problem with finalising STP in 2020. My payroll items have not changed. The ATO Business Portal has everything I submitted and reconciles with my GL and with my STP. It was not individual payroll items that were missed, it was employees as a whole.

Thank you anyway for your comments, I have followed Reckon's advice and will see what happens.
