STP file not being created

I am using Reckon accounts Premier 2022, which was renewed on 1st July. I have done our first payroll this morning and the STP file that I created for 6/7/2022 does not appear in the STP files and therefore I cannot upload and report to the ATO.

Hi Jenny,

Just need to clarify, is the pay run not appearing in the 'Process Single Touch Payroll' window to export OR have you already exported the STP file from Reckon Accounts and are now attempting to upload it to GovConnect but can't locate it from where it was saved on your PC?

Thanks Rav for responding. I can create a STP file for today's payrun, but when I go to upload in GovConnect the STP file is not there to upload. I have searched my computer and it's as though the file doesn't exist.

Do you usually save your exported STP files in the one place? If you go to that folder/location on your PC using a normal file explorer window rather than the 'Upload' window in GovConnect do you see the saved file on your PC?

Regardless of the above though, you can export the same STP file from Reckon Accounts again and may opt to save it in a different location on your PC eg. Desktop for example and see if that works for you

yes, I always save exported STP files to the same place, and when I check the folder on the PC today's file is not there. A thought - when the IT guy upgraded Reckon to 2022 version, I at first couldn't email out from Reckon, the IT guy told me it needed Administrator permission granted to allow emails to work - would this have any bearing on the current problem?

I have saved the STP file to desktop and have been able to upload to GovConnect. But going forward I would like to be able to solve this issue.

The email aspect shouldn't have any correlation to an STP file not appearing in the saved location on your PC as far as I'm aware.

If you export the STP file again from Reckon Accounts and then save it to that same usual folder with all of your other STP files, does it appear?

I have exported again and the current STP file is with two others that I created earlier today, but there is only 3 files (which are today's) and they haven't been added to the ongoing list of last financial years STP files - and I have to do a long search thru Harddrive c, program data, Reckon, Reckon acc 2022 onto export files, then STP files. Before I updated to version 2022, the STP file would just show up in Gov Connect without having to search for the STP file.

Hi Jenny

When you install/upgrade, a new set of folders (including Export Files > STP Files) is automatically created under the new 2022 folder.

Once you save in the new (2022) location, it should default to there each time again ☺️

Thank you for your reply. So that explains why the July 2022 STP file is not flowing on from last financial year's STP file. I can now see that a new export file>STP file has been created for July 2022 going forward. But when I go into GovConnect and go to upload the file, the system doesn't automatically take me to the STP files, which on the 2021 version of Reckon accounts it did, I now have to take the long way eg. C drive, program data, etc, etc to find the saved STP file. How can I create a shortcut to the STP file?

Hi Jenny

Go to the folder location, right-click on the STP Files folder then select Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut).

I also add it to my Quick Access folders (in the folders/file list on the left-hand-side) ☺️
