My current software ID is invalid. Any Ideas Why?

I am upgrading to the new system Wednesday 7th September. However, I have had to report a backpay through Reckon Gov Connect and it won't accept as it says my software ID is invalid.

Besides the backpay, I will have a payrun to do on Wednesday prior to the upgrade. How do I report these?

    Can I just clarify, are you encountering this Software ID error message on a pay run you've created and sent from Payroll Premier desktop? ie. just how you've been doing it usually?

    Have there been any changes to your ABN and/or branch number recently or since your last successful submission?

    Hi Rav

    It was done with the STP Export file as per Single touch payroll Phase 1. There was a payrun done on 30th August which was successful. But i tried to process a pay on 1st September and that's when the error came up. The pay had to be backdated to 10th August due to a workcover error.


    Our ABN and branch number have not changed.

    That sounds strange 🤔.

    The Software ID error message is a pretty specific one and only appears when the STP entity that you're sending to hasn't been registered with the ATO via the software ID.

    Unless you removed software ID registration yourself in the ATO Portal and/or there have been changes to the ABN/branch in your Payroll Premier software or GovConnect, I can't think of a reason why that message would appear if you sent a successful submission on the 30th but the next one on the 1st failed.

    Can I grab the ABN and I'll just do a couple of checks on my end.

    No I haven't changed/removed our software registration in the ATO portal. Nor are there have been changes to our ABN from my end.

    Our ABN is 71 729 259 489

    Everything is back to normal, thank you. I re-ran the STP report from the 1st and processed the pays from today and they both were successful.
