Moving Back To Quicken from Reckon Home & Business

Hi

I have been with Reckon for years and prior to that Quicken.

As it appears that Reckon really dont seem interested in retaining Home and business Customers given how absolutely out of date this product is , i am looking to migrate back to Quicken but unfortunately the Date Export Function will not work post 2012 w? Does anyone have a solution

yes Gerry it does , but frankly every year Reckon increase the subscription fee but offer absolutely no improvements . Running Reports < Exporting Date etc is an absolute;ute joke. And the Fact that i need to still run on a seperate PC as it wont Run on a Mac is also not good . I did look at migrating back to Quicken and Trialled a system with an VPN , but unfortunately can only export data that i had backed up 10 tears ago before the Reckon Take Over. If they actually provided any software improvements or even basic reporting i would be happier as i have 20 Plus years of data and Investment Data want to Retain- paying $260 a year for software thats 20 years out of date is a big ask !

    Hi Devenio,

Did you ever manage to find an alternative product to this lame software that we are paying way too much for?

No not yet although the US/Canada version of Quicken is pretty good main issue is i cant transfer data back to it .( post 2012) i also looked at banktivity 7 to manage bank transfers . I would move over tomorrow if i did not loose my historical data . The export to CSV file function sort of works but thats pretty cumbersome. I have gone to anyone i can speak to at Reckon and they say they will do something but nothings happened . I wished Quicken would take them over , that would solve many problems !! I guess they will just continue to milk the remaining clients they have on the platform

Thanks for the reply, I could not agree more, Reckon have done nothing but ruin this product which was once a market leader. Shame Quicken ever sold it to them. Hopefully a competitive product is produced soon, is only a matter of time....There's a development opportunity, I know a few programmers, might have to take this market on.

The Personal Range software (Personal Plus and Home & Business) is a mature software which we will continue to support however no new features or functionality will be developed for it in its current form.

From what I understand the price of Personal Range subscriptions were also frozen for 3 years so there haven't been regular price increases for this software over recent times.

From a broader perspective, the (much) longer term plan is to develop our cloud service, Reckon One to incorporate the unique features of the desktop-based Reckon Personal software into it and also add further enhancements to the offering such as bank feeds, mobile access etc. However this is much further down the line as there are a huge number of considerations to a project of this magnitude along with some very large projects that are already underway and planned.

Blah Blah Blah, checking through the threads I have seen these comments from you for years Rav and NO action. No disrespect to you or the team but come on.......don't you think it's time for some action?? I also have an email from your team suggesting that the product is no longer supported by Reckon and is only supported through the Community chat room, which is not much use for improving the product or fixing bugs of which there are many. Does anybody monitor the crash reports that are regularly sent to Reckon?

Given your long-suffering users are not getting any real support or improvements, the product should now be free until you can get your (much) long awaited upgrades to Reckon One complete before they all move to Xero and the like.

Please give this some consideration as paying an annual license fee for this product is an absolute joke.

If reckon are not gong to effectively do anything to improve the product , what not allow the functionality for us to export our data in QIF format as we used to be able to do up till 2012 and then we could leave and upgrade to a product that does support its like say quicken ?? Seems to be a potential ACCC issue here given we can get our data off the platform effectively and you are not making any improvements ?? Not a great message for people looking at Reckon 1 as an alternative to ZERO or MYOB one would have thought ?

and by the way the price has gone up in each of the last three years !! so your understanding is not correct

    RAV no response from you

so can I ask that you please pass my comments onto Sam Allert your CEO as im sure that this issue gets no focus at cpr[prate levels given all your growth is in your cloud based accounting systems .It would not be a big ask to allow the export functionality you used to have be reinstated , as it is unconscionable to retain people on an environment that you no longer will support . As you said any improvement is years away and frankly im pretty confident will never happen.

So why not provide an option that allows us to migrate to a product that does work and is well supported.

I am sure the ACCC may well want to look at this , given their interest in other software providers in australia that have engaged in similar practices ?

    Hi Devenio

You can still export your data out of Home & Business if you hold down "Ctrl", "Shift" and "Z" together.

    Regards

Thanks Robyn unfortunately you can only export individual data files ie for each individual account ? there is no way to export the full home and Business Accounts including ( in my case ) at least 40 accounts including Share, Super and Banking Accounts

When you live on a small island in the South Pacific, Norfolk Island, using a cloud-based solution is not ideal as our internet is often affected by clouds and rain, (NBN satellite, Sky Muster). What alternative solution would you suggest for us?
