New Reckon Payroll is too slow compare to old payroll premier.

I had just migrated from old payroll premier to new one at the end of August 2023. The problem with new payroll premier is it taking too long to loading and updating pay run items.

For example, in old payroll, for one employee, the template set up was so simple that line after line, I can enter the ordinary hour, times one and the half, double time hours, difference types of allowances, deductions, super etc at one go without need to wait for any loading time or updating time, when finished that employee pay items, just one clicked 'ok', it updated immediately.

But on the new payroll, every single pay items I clicked on, it takes 5-10 seconds to load and after I entered the number of hours, it took another 5-10 seconds to update. I have 20 employees, and each of them have at least 5 difference categories of ordinary pays, allowances, deduction and super.

Before migration, I can finish enter all the 20 employees pay run with check through everything in just 1 hour. But now, I will need at least 4 hours on the pay run.

By any chance, the payroll system can be updated so that the pay items can click and enter right in without loading time and updating time?

Thanks for the feedback, its good info to have.

Have you taken a look at the Pay Setup functionality in Reckon Payroll? It allows you to pre-load the relevant pay items eg. earnings, super allowances, deductions etc to an employee. You can then choose to create your pay run using the items loaded in the pay setup.

Yes, I am using the pay items Setup, but our employees have working hours different each day; they are paid whenever the work finished. Other than standard 40 hours, they work extra times, everyday different, all that weekly allowance and deduction for personal tools etc need to enter separately.

Honestly, I still prefer the old payroll system then the new one.

Hopefully Reckon can soon upgrate the system that no longer time consuming on entering pay items.

Yes @infotempright I agree whole heartedly with your comments. It may work well if you have employees working set hours week in week out, but when you have 30 employees whose hours vary week to week like I do, the new app is so slow compared to payroll premier. It can take up to 4 hours to do a pay run whereas on payroll premier, it took maximum 1 hour.

At least you can do your payruns. For the past 2 weeks I have been locked out due to a technical glitch with branch numbers and have had to to my payruns manually.

I totally agree. It takes me 4 times longer to to key the pays. This new payroll is so slow if takes ages to key in. You watch those 3 dots, waiting, waiting. It is so frustrating. I have spoken to so many technicians and they either they say it shouldn’t be slow or it’s because the system is still migrating. Well it’s not good enough. I’m glad I’m not the only one that is wasting precious time on this new payroll update. It should I’d be faster not slower. Please help us.

I tried that. I pre-loaded up to 8 pay items including different overtime rates etc but if I only wanted 3 or 4 items in a pay run I had to delete the ones listed when keying in the pays. Once again taking forever. This system would be ok if every employee worked the same hours each week but for many companies this wouldn’t work. I don’t know who tried this new payroll system out before launching it.

I fully agree with the statement above and believe that a prompt resolution or update is imperative at the earliest opportunity.

Our organisation employs up to 200 casual workers whose weekly hours vary. While I haven't yet conducted a payroll run, I am already experiencing significant delays in reviewing each employee's payment details, with the system taking minutes for each check.

It is unacceptable for us to transition from a previously efficient system to a newer one that operates at an 80% slower pace. The implementation of this system should have been delayed until it could guarantee a seamless transition for customers without substantial disruptions.

This situation is highly disheartening, and immediate corrective action is essential.
