Email address when sending invoices from Hosted has changed to - 'via amazonses'

Has anyone else noticed this change happen today? We have had emails go to junk in our customers email systems as they are no longer recognizing the 'from' address as legit. new email address is - accountshosted@reckon.com via amazonses.com
We have called Reckon and they said it isn't a scam, we haven't been hacked but they won't put anything in writing explaining why this has changed all of the sudden.

Reckon has really screwed some of us over. Their servers either can't cope or they are trying to save a few cents by sending from Amazon. They are masking their address and our Outlook sees the masking and doesn't send it. The only option for those of you who are affected is to sent your outgoing email to yourself and then forward it once received to the intended recipient. Absolute ****.

I noticed this Email address change as well on the payslips I emailed out on Friday - they all went to my junk folder showing a warning that the identify of the sender couldn't be verified and the sender is different than the normal sender. Makes me nervous seeing warnings like that associated with payslips.

I have sent a message to Rav as I fear this will prove to be problematic for any users that email direct from Reckon Hosted. I will update you with his response.

Thanks for letting me know Kris. I will have to wait until he gets back. We did call Reckon on Friday evening and they said it is a valid change but would not say why they have done this nor why the didn't notify customers. We asked for clarity in writing but they wouldn't do it. Very frustrating!

Hi all,
Apologies for the delay in responding. Reckon uses Amazon web services to send the emails which is why they show like that. Please refer to this article regarding this.

Hi Reeta,
Thanks for the reply. Has this been a recent change by Reckon, as in from last Friday? As prior to last Friday, the emails didn't reference "amazonses.com" as the sender. Rather it displayed as per the below screenshot
The problem we have is that now the email contains "amazonses", some email services are rejecting the emails as the sender is unknow and suspected as spam.
Can Reckon revert to the way it used to be and not display 'amazonses" in the sender's name?

Hi @Suzanne DiStefano ,
To the best of my knowledge, there have been no changes made to the email services linked to Reckon Accounts hosted recently. Just to clarify the scenario , I will get in touch with our development team and provide you with further information.

Reeta

Hi @Suzanne DiStefano ,
Reckon Hosted has been using Amazon SES as the email service provider for many years, we haven't made any recent changes.
Some email providers do append the "via amazon ses" at the end of the from address on received emails.
I personally use Gmail and I've got emails dating back to 2020 (the earliest i still have in my inbox) that include the "via amazonses".
Do you know which email service(s) has started marking the email as spam as of friday?
I just tested my Outlook 365 & Hotmail and neither of them do, my Gmail does but the email is received.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the reply. I cannot tell what email service our customer uses from their email address as they have their own domain.
I have emailed invoices to myself multiple times and prior to last Friday I didn't see 'amazonses' in the 'from box', as you can see in the above screenshot. We use exchange (and have our own domain).
So, are you saying that this change has happened because of the receiver's email client? And it has nothing to do with Reckon?

I don’t really know what’s caused it at this stage, all i know is we definitely haven’t made any changes to the way emails are sent from Reckon Hosted.
I’ll try to gather some information to narrow it down to a specific ISP/email client etc so we can try to reproduce and figure out how to stop it from happening.
The only suggestion I can give in the meantime is if you have any customers that don’t receive the email, is to ask them to add accountshosted@reckon.com as a trusted account and see if they then receive the email.

@Suzanne DiStefano & @jws This appears to be due to changes/updates by (a) particular ISP(s), not Reckon's doing 😬

Yep Same, it is causing me huge problems, invoices, orders all going to spam at the other end. Next it will be a statement circus.
