Multifactor authentication needs a rethink

I am a tax agent for microbusiness clients using Reckon hosted accounts. It is uneconomical for my clients to pay for a separate license so that I can inspect their online Reckon accounts from time to time. They refuse to pay for another license. As it stands now, if I want to login to a clients accounts, I need to ask them for the authentication code.
Unless Reckon quickly comes up with a solution, I will be asking my clients to turn to another software provider.
A couple of ideas come to mind:
- allowing authentication at the user level,
- License the accountant/bookkeeper and allow access to multiple clients' accounts.
So, come on Reckon!

Is there any particular reason why you don't have your own Reckon Accounts Hosted licence which your clients then share their file(s) to for you to review/work on as required?
Generally, an accountant has their own Hosted account/licence (separate from any client accounts), your clients can then share their files to your account which you can open and work on.

Here is a guide that users can follow to share their specific company data file with their accountant:

We are an accounting practice with only 1 client using Reckon Accounts Hosted. Under the new MFA how do we get access to their file without having to contact them each time we log in?
Do we have to pay for a subscription? This is not economical when only a single client is using the program.
If this is the case then we will be recommending to our client that they change their software.

The introduction of mandatory MFA to Hosted is a compliance requirement however its importnat to note, this hasn't changed anything around the terms of licences. A Reckon Accounts Hosted licence is specific to the individual and isn't designed to be shared among multiple people much like other online accounts you may have.
As above mentioned above, typically an accountant has their own Hosted account/licence (separate from any client accounts) as opposed to logging into a client's account using their user name/password. Your clients can then share their files to your own Hosted account, (which will have its own individual MFA) which you can use to open and work on the file.
There's some info around this in our FAQ for MFA with Reckon Accounts Hosted HERE.
