Hi - Reading article about hosting updates and have a few questions . . .

Will hosted data remain in Aust?

Is it possible this opens opportunity to automate data file backups now or in near future ?

Can we expect this to work with MS EDGE (notes say Chrome is recommended but Edge is based on Chrome and we don't need or install it otherwise)

I've added some info below to each of your questions.

Will hosted data remain in Aust?

With the upgrade to the Reckon Accounts Hosted, there haven't been any changes to where user data is stored. Reckon Accounts Hosted file servers remain in the Sydney region.

Is it possible this opens opportunity to automate data file backups now or in near future?

In regard to automated backups, we've had an idea raised for this previously here and I added the latest status update a couple of weeks ago. At this stage, this is unlikely to be implemented due to several challenges in the way Hosted operates however its something that will remain on the radar in the longer term.

Can we expect this to work with MS EDGE (notes say Chrome is recommended but Edge is based on Chrome and we don't need or install it otherwise)

Google Chrome is the supported and recommended browser for the new Reckon Accounts Hosted platform so if you have the option to use it, that's what we'd strongly suggest.

With that said, we have numerous users accessing the new platform on Edge and provided you enable the relevant browser permissions ie. pop-ups and clipboard, then I believe you should be ok there.
