Unable to open the tax table file

Re: Reckon Accounts Premier Desktop
Since upgrading to V34, one of my computers keeps giving me the message when I open the program "Unable to open the tax table file. No calculations can be done". It will not let me begin to Pay Employees at all because of this (I could have entered the tax manually). If I go into Employees>Tax Table Information via the menu, it gives me this same message, then Reckon crashes and closes itself.
This is my second computer running Reckon; the data file is kept on our main computer. Reckon on that main computer does not get this message; it seems to work there.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for trying @Sandra_10124565
Ok in that case, I think perhaps an uninstall & reinstall might be the next best step.
Also, to answer your earlier question, I've checked in with the Customer Service team and reinstalling the software on the same PC does not count as an additional installation so there's nothing specific you need to do in order to deactivate it.

Hi @Rav
I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem is fixed - thanks. It also automatically recognised that the version had been activated so I didn't have to do the activation process again.
I also found at least 4 previous versions of Reckon back to 2021 still there when I uninstalled v34, so I uninstalled them too. Are we meant to uninstall these old versions when we get the new ones? It doesn't say to on the instructions you (ie Reckon) issue. It just says to disconnect from the internet, disable our antivirus then reverse these steps after installation, so I have never formally uninstalled any of the previous versions. Should this be part of the process of upgrading?

Excellent, glad to hear its sorted and good work @Sandra_10124565 🙂
You don't have to uninstall the previous versions until you're ready but yes, at a certain point its probably best to as once you upgrade your file it cant be opened on that older version.
Some folks like to keep the older versions on-hand just in case but there's not really a need for it and most older versions can no longer be reactivated anyway. Uninstalling previous versions will also free up some resources and space on your PC.

Does this error appear each time you attempt to launch the new edition of Reckon Accounts Desktop? Just to clarify, does the message appear when you try to open the software itself OR when you open your company file?
It might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the software on this particular PC and see if that makes a difference?

Hi @Rav
It appears each time I open Reckon Accounts Desktop for the file (company) that runs payroll.
- Open Reckon Accounts and log in with password
- It brings up the Broadcast Message "Welcome to the latest Reckon Accounts" etc.
- Then it brings up the message about being unable to open the tax table file
So far it seems I can use the rest of Reckon as usual, but I cannot pay employees (as per my original post).
If I uninstall and then reinstall the software to see if this helps, does this count as an additional activation? Or do I have to do something before uninstalling to deactivate this installation?

Thanks for the extra info @Sandra_10124565
Just before we go down the road of uninstalling, if you go to Employees ➡️ Get Latest Tax Tables
Does the error appear when doing this as well or does it successfully download the current tax tables for you?

Hi @Rav
I just tried this for you: sadly it crashes and closes Reckon same as when I try to go into the Employees>Tax Table Information option.
