Employee Super Statement – Incorrect Employer Name

Hi Rav,
Do you know where BEAM sources the business name that appears on an employee’s superannuation statement?
We’ve come across a situation where an employee’s super statement is displaying the name of an old sister company that hasn’t been active in years. However, the payroll file we use for Superstream submissions has nothing to do with that entity — everything is under our current, correct company name/ABN.
I’ve double-checked our payroll setup and the clearing house submission, and there’s no reference to the old company anywhere, so I’m struggling to understand how it’s ended up on her super statement.
Any ideas on where this info is pulled from, or how we can correct it?

Good question @Kali
I don't know the answer to that yet but I can try to find out. Where is that statement being generated from? Is it coming from Beam themselves?
In your Reckon One book if you go to both;
- Payroll Settings ➡️ Company Details
AND
- Settings ➡️ Book Settings ➡️ General Details and Contact Details
Is there any reference in either of these spots that contain that old entity name?

Thanks for your quick response, Rav.
There’s definitely no reference in either of those two places. I’ve had a think, and I reckon it might just be an admin error on the choice of fund’s end — back in the day when certain funds required employers to register before accepting contributions on behalf of employees. I’ve reached out to Australian Super to see if that could be the case. Leave it with me for now.
On a separate note — just to confirm — Beam (via Reckon Payroll) completely replaces our old clearing house, right? We previously used Colonial First State as our clearing house since it’s our default fund, but now that BEAM is built into Reckon Payroll and handles that process, it means we no longer need to update employee details directly through Colonial’s clearing house. Am I understanding that correctly?

Ok sounds good, let me know how you get on with the first one.
In regard to your second question, yes that's exactly right, Beam takes care of that now.

Great, that’s what I thought. However, since Colonial First State is still our default fund, I assume we’ll need to maintain access to that portal—otherwise I’m not sure how we’d set up new employees in the fund?

From what I understand there is an option during the Beam application/setup process to set your own default fund.
Below is a screenshot where I launched Beam setup from my test book and the option appeared to designate the default fund during the application. Did you nominate Colonial First State as your default fund with Beam?

Hi Rav,
Thanks for this info — I believe I did, however how can I check?
Also, when the time comes, how do I add a new employee via BEAM? I can’t see any option to do this under the SuperStream tab in Reckon Payroll.
