I am a payroll officer who processes payroll for a number of clients. Currently, payday super payments are being lodged via Beam superstream using BPAY.
I would like to know the correct procedure for dealing with missed payday super payments in the event a client misses a super payment. From information I have found online, it seems that the super amount paid for the most recent pay run will be paid towards covering the super deficit from the earliest pay run (qualifying day) where super was not paid.
If this is correct, how would the client catch up on missed super payments? Would they pay the overdue super amount from previous pay run in addition to the super amount due from the current pay run? Does the superbatch for the missed super payment need to be re-submitted and paid separately via an unscheduled pay run? or is there another procedure to follow to ensure ATO compliance?
Any guidance would be much appreciated, as I have not been able to find definitive answers anywhere.
