Leann hi. You don't "do" a general ledger. Are you trying to print it? Call me if you like 0407744914

You've made an assumption there K. Perhaps Leann wanted to make a gl entry. The question wasn't very clear

You are correct but if this is all she wants she has the answer, otherwise she’ll get back to us

Well maybe. I think some times non accountants want to leave the GL to the people who do this for a living. It has always been my approach.

Also, the help files and help.reckon.com

I have never found the help files very helpful, I was actually looking for something yesterday to no avail.

I have found these days accountants want a copy of the general ledger along with the normal financial reports

I have found a lot of accountants ask for a copy of the GL and don't know why. Usually because they don't support Reckon.

I was told they need to keep it for ATO requirements, possibly in light of the fact that people often change accounting software and don’t or can’t keep a backup, as in Reckon One and Quickbooks online e.g.

Leann help me out. What did you want to "do"?

I don't know who told you K but it might be useful. In my old job at the training company in the 90s the boss printed EVERYTHING. No one does that any more. I guess its a judgement thing. And space is cheaper than it used to be. Of course computer files can be lost too. How much redundancy do you want to pay for?

I needed to print out the General Ledger for Last Financial Year, to give to our Auditor, as she could not open our version of Reckon Accounts on her computer. This happens every year.

I don’t print the GL for accountants just send them a PDF, and that too is free, up to them to store it safely

Glad you got it sorted Leanne

Leann might be worth suggesting your auditor get up to date.
