    Julie Hi

You arent going to like this. I don't use "fast coding". There's no need. If you know how to set up rules in Hosted, it can do about fifty percent of the work for you. Fast coding is not really a short cut. Call me if you wish to discuss.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your feedback!!

Zappy, just one more question....when you said:

"If you know how to set up rules in Hosted, it can do about fifty percent of the work for you" Did you mean memorised transactions or is there something else I dont know about?

I would love to be able to memorise transactions, in split percentages.

    Cheers Julie

I memorise most of my transactions - set up exactly how I want them - & set them to auto-enter accordingly ☺️

I have used bank feeds a few times but find the process frustrating with so many format irregularities (mainly due to the description variations 🙄 … No good for my OCD requirements 😆)

What do you mean “by split percentages” ? 🤔

splitting cost: eg fuel for drawings 34% and business use 66% . So a fixed split percentage of the total amount

Yep ... Memorised Transactions are perfect for multi-line entries:

    Capture.JPG

That's the purpose of them - To set it up how you want, then Memorise it so it can be entered anytime with the breakdown Accounts, Tax Codes & Memos (if applicable) already present 😊

It doesn't Memorise specifically as a split percentage, however are you aware of the built-in calculator in Amt columns? :

    • Firstly, you need to make sure the "Amounts include tax" checkbox (at the bottom) is ticked
    • As above, enter the full total in the $ field (at the top, under the date)
    • Clear - or overtype - in the Gross Amt on the 1st line, the full cost (eg in the above case, "100")
    • Type the " / " key & then the percentage as a decimal (eg in your case & as above, "0.66") after & it will convert to a calculator & enter/display the result for you!

NB: You can also use the other maths-equivalent symbols: + , - & * for calculations there too

but what if you need to split percentages of the total amount on a regular basis?

It will Memorise the amount/split exactly as entered so it's perfect for Direct Debits, Monthly Fees, Rent etc where it's the same amount every time.

Unfortunately, you'll need to edit it as above if the amount differs each time though 😬.

Julie Hi. I agree. I never get what I want. I use the qif file import and create rules based on that. There's no need for bank feeds. At least not the way they have been implemented with Reckon. The other systems have their problems too. You just need to be creative and focus on what you are trying to do and not be pinned down by the technology. Memorized transactions will get you part of the way but they aren't the solution to every thing.

Can anyone tell me if Bank Data has improved since September 2021 when I last looked at it? Its is saying there has been an update but it doesn't say when that happened.

    Cheers,

    Julie
