User Permissions

Is there a way to give somebody access to all the functions within a Hosted Client file with the exception of adding/deleting users.

I am in "Edit Roles" but cannot see how to do this. Can somebody advise if this is possible, and if so how to do it?

    Hi Bruce

    I don't believe there's a specific "permission" for this alone 😬

    Thanks Shaz

Not perfect, but I guess if I am happy to give somebody carte blanche to a file then I should be able to trust them not to change users.

Even so, I think that I will add this option to the Wish List of new features

Chances are they wouldn’t know how to change it anyway 😬😁

    Hi,

If I've understood your question correctly, please check this answer.

Task which can only be possible by Reckon company file's administrator ( Admin) ( Hosted Client file ). No other user, created in company file will be able to do these task irrespective of 'full access' under new role.

    • Add or delete users: Change a user's access permissions
    • Upgrade company file
    • Disable the Login window in a company file

User is the role assigned to additional users who are able to work within the pre-defined parameters set by the administrator.

There's more info around roles & permissions within the in-product help section of Accounts Hosted. Help > Reckon Accounts Help > type in keyword search for roles, permissions etc

@Ageoftaxation I think Bruce was wanting to know if there was a specific stand-alone permission just for Adding/Editing Users that could be allocated a permission (Full v Specific v No Access)

@Ageoftaxation I was looking for a degree of access where the user:

    • can upgrade the data file, but
    • CANNOT add a new user, delete an existing user or edit an existing user's permissions

Rationale being that the company owner (who logs in as Admin) wants to control who can access the data file, but delegate all other functions to their staff

    Hey Bruce

Been having a chat with my mate @ReckonDataRecovery about this. He's run a test which might have the solution you're looking for. I've done a test on my own account and its worked as well.

    • Create a new role with relevant access to the areas you wish to give the user access to.
    • Create the new user and assign them the newly created role.

When logged in as that new user, if I attempt to access the 'Setup users and roles' menu option in Hosted it won't allow it as they are not the Admin and instead will display the message below
