How do I fix a double EOFY STP submission

I accidentally lodged my EOFY STP submission TWICE because the app froze.

How can I fix this? I do not want it showing twice the actual amounts for the ATO.

    Hi @Dean,

It won't show the EOFY submission twice on the ATO's end. As it will only submit again the STP Year-to-Date figures for your payroll again.

So you will not need to do anything as the EOFY Finalization will overwrite any previous submissions.

Actually it IS showing twice on their portal. I am on the phone to the ATO atm to try and get it fixed

    Hi @Dean,

Could you possibly send me a screenshot in a private message so I can check this for you?

    Hi @Dean

While the ATO Portal will likely show two submissions have been received on their end, an EOFY finalisation is an update event-type submission which will finalise employee balances and mark them as tax ready.

Sending additional EOFY finalisations will overwrite any prior submissions/balances, it won't double up on anything as it doesn't actually carry any balances in itself.

Many thanks Lucas and Rav. You are both more knowledgeable than the ATO apparently hahaha.

As we all know…. The ATO are the only people you make sure you do not stuff around or make mistakes with.

Am having a similar issue, but that there were errors in the eofy STP I submitted. Did you end up seeing that there was only the one entry on employee's ATO records?

I'm trying to work out if I can just upload the corrected eofy STP and that that will overwrite the incorrect data. Anyone have any ideas please?

    Hi @Jeff Parker

Yes, sending a new EOFY finalisation will overwrite previous balances. If you've corrected any errors that were affecting the first submission then I'd recommend sending through a new EOFY finalisation.

This will overwrite all prior employee balances with the balances that are included in the EOFY finalisation and also mark the employees as Tax Ready.

Thanks Rav, but the previously uploaded eofy STP, i.e. with errors in some values, did load successfully and the employee's ATO records are already marked Tax Ready. My question really is can I upload a new eofy STP with correct values and that it will override the data already in their records.

I have advised the affected staff to not submit their ITRs until the issue is fixed, so I'm hoping the window to fix the problem is still open.

Yes, previous balances that were already sent will be overwritten when you send through a new EOFY finalisation.
