Setting up an owner with access to Reckon's Identity Server in Hosted
Further to my query about linking a third party product to Reckon, I was asked by the third party support person to set up another owner with access to Reckon's Identity Server in Hosted. We were having problems connecting with xxxxxxxx-1. This is his message:
A crucial step I completely forgot about when setting a new user as the "owner" role - the user has to have access to Reckon's Identity Server. Apparently the majority of users don't have this access, and it's generally only the user ID that ends in "-1" that has this access by default. My notes say that you'll have to contact Reckon's Support to add the owner user's ID to have access to the Identity server if it doesn't already have it.
When I rang Reckon Support and read this out exactly, the support person said that I only had to set that user to an Owner under The Hosted Control Panel…User Management, and then give them Full Access in the database as a user under Set up Users and Roles. The third party support person said that he was sure this was not the case.
Please clarify the process to set up a Hosted 'Owner ' user with access to Reckon's Identity Server.

Hi @CDK
The “-“ represents the paid licence so if you have 4 user licences, these will be numbered 1-4. By default, the initial one is set as the Owner but any/all can be set to that if needed. Only Owners have full control of user access, meaning they can add/remove users & manage file sharing, so this is typically only set for the business owner(s)/snr staff who require that level of control.
(NOTE: This has NOTHING to do with the Users you set up in your actual company files & their assigned Roles/permissions there eg User -3 can log into the platform & still log into your company file as Admin - eg have full access - if they have your Admin login details)Not sure what “Reckon’s Identity Server” is is … or why your 3rd party support person wants “ownership” ???? 🤔🤔🤔
It sounds like they don’t understand how it works, so not sure why they are wanting to get control of it from you!

I understand the difference between Hosted users and database users. Using the owner user ID number xxxxxx-x is the way third party apps connect to Reckon. In other circumstances we login using Name ID. They needed to change the Hosted Owner and connect it to the Identity Server. Your answer didn't really answer my question about connecting an owner to Reckon's Identity Server. I can see that you can switch between roles in the Control Panel but is it as simple as changing the hosted user access to 'Owner' under the Control Panel to connect to the Identity Server or does it have to be done by Reckon support as requested by the third party support person? I still don't understand that bit. We wasted a lot of time on this last week so I need it clarified for the future.

Does the 3rd party’s product have existing Hosted API integration ? If so, @Rav may be able to provide more clarity on that.

Hi @CDK
Apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience.
To set up your access in the Identity Server, I need a few additional details from you. I’ve sent you a direct message—please share the requested information at your earliest convenience, and I’ll create your credentials. Thank you!
