Subscription charge per entity
One of our clients has just received a phone call from Reckon saying that from October 19 he will be charged full subscription for each of his entities. He currently has 8 so that would end up costing him almost $7000 per year. We also have a number of clients who will be in the same boat. This is outrageous!!! How does Reckon justify such a huge change after so many years. They are going to lose so many customers as Reckon will no longer be cost effective for them. Way to go Reckon… So much for rewarding customer loyalty 😡

Email from Reckon received after phone call

Did you ask them on your call or respond to the email to ask?

No, the call and email were to my client and he was just letting me know

Hi @LornaBock
Just jumping in here to add some context (if it applies), if you're providing payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting services for clients, then each client requires their own individually licenced Reckon software. This is consistent with the licensing for all Reckon products.
We're more than happy to have a chat around this to answer any questions you have may have and I'd recommend replying to the email you've received above and a member of our team will be in touch.

Each client does have their own individually licenced Reckon software. It's just that some of them have multiple entities which has always been available on the one licence.

Did you get an answer?
I think the correspondence to the client is ambiguous to say the least.
And possibly misleading.

I was told exactly the same thing last week
0 -
What were you "told"
Reckon are here every single day
If you know this, why doesnt everyone?
What makes you unique?

I’m not unique, this has been bandied around on this community for weeks. I was told that every entity that has an ABN, even if the same owner, needs their own license. And the ‘complimentary’ desktop version is only a trial version and can’t be activated.

If it has been bandied I havent seen it anywhere
The version of Enterprise is most definitely NOT a trial version unless this changed this year.

Changed on 2 occasions in the past 2 weeks that I’m aware of
1 -
Two weeks. I think not
Where was announcement?

This is from the forum. Note no mention of trial version.
@Alexis McKeown you might like to chime in
0 -
I realise that, but what was downloaded from the members site was only a trial version in 2 cases
0 -
What did you realize?
When you log in to the members site you get an IKC
The full version of the software and the trial version are EXACTLY THE SAME
The version that's installed is key driven.
Please dont tell me you are unaware of this.

I’m telling you that the version I downloaded ran out and I was not able to be activated, I was told this when I rang up, and that it was because the client had more than one entity. I was also asked what was the desktop version used for?
The same thing happened to a friend the week before who only had one entity, and the version we downloaded did exactly the same thing and she was told it’s only a trial version. With Rav’s help it was sorted
1 -
Its the same version
It can only be activated once
Thats NOT the same as saying its a trial version
It isnt
Kr

For goodness sake Zappy, Two of us were told it was a trial version which is why it couldn’t be activated.
1 -
Jeepers @Zappy calm ya farm, it sounds like you're about to blow a gasket.
If you haven't heard about it, maybe it doesn't affect you?
1 -
Someone is telling you porkies
The reason you cant activate it is because you have already done it

you’re wrong, I’m right, at least as far as my experience and my friend’s was.
It’s not supposed to be like that but it was. Program stopped working as the notification kept telling me it would
Goodnight

@Zappy There has indeed been extensive discussion on this forum around these issues for many months.
I’d recommend doing some catch-up reading rather than indulging in the usual, unnecessary vitriol 🙄

Not sure what issues it is to which you are referring
Ive simply stated the IKC for Enterprise which is available to all users of hosted software is not a trial version
Kris has got it wrong regardless of what she was allegedly told

Not sure what to tell you
My clients use Hosted every single day
How does it not affect me?
Kr

Not what I was told Zappy what actually happened to my friend and myself.
1 -
@Rav is right of course
If you are providing bookkeeping services for a number of clients they should all pay for a copy of the appropriate desktop software annually. They can install it or not install it as they prefer depending on how much work they are doing. This isnt a change from the conditions round Hosted.
It's quite a separate issue to the complimentary copy of Enterprise.
It's great the topic got sidetracked but it should be considered settled.

It’s not the advice I received only, it’s the actual experience two of us had when we tried to activate the installation of V34 that was downloaded from the members site and installed using the IKC listed. How about you send me the article Lucas wrote so I can go from there
