Unfortunately there's a hitch - entering a Classification in a line when creating a Bill or Invoice, or allocating a payment in Banking Transactions to a GL account (ie for interest paid) blanks out other fields. The Description which you would have just typed disappears, so you need to go back and retype it, and Tax code and Amount also go blank.

Tried entering the Classification first, but that still blanks out the Tax code and Amount fields, which should be the remain as the default Tax code for that type of transaction and 0 respectively.

If you change a Classification in a line after the Bill/Invoice/Payment has been saved, it also blanks out Description, Tax code and amount.

A Classification is not a GL account code so changing one should not trigger a forced re-entry of the particulars. It's meant to be be just a tag.

Please could this be looked into.

    Hi @DebW

I've split your reply into its own post here so I can get a little bit more info from you on this.

Can you step me through the exact steps you're going through.

I've tried it this morning in my book by adding line-item classifications in an invoice and bill and can't seem to replicate what you're experiencing, although I may be doing something different to you.

Below is a quick screen recording where I'm adding a classification to an item, then changing it and the tax code & amount fields stay consistent.

I haven't included it in the above example but I also changed the classification after saving the invoice and it stayed the same there as well so would be keen to understand the process you're going through.

    Cheers

    My apologies, Invoices are fine.

It's happening in Bills and Banking transactions.

In Bills > Add > enter Supplier > enter Account > enter Description > enter Classification then tab

at this point, Description is erased, Tax code that was NCG goes blank, Tax goes blank, Amount changes from $0.00 to $0

The same thing happens when entering a Payment in Banking transactions, ie

In Reckon One transactions > Add payment > New > enter Account > enter Description > enter Classification then tab

at this point, Description is erased, Tax code that was NCG goes blank, Tax goes blank, Amount changes from $0.00 to $0

Note, we have the applicable Tax code set in each Account in Chart of Accounts at Default tax code. This means that, when creating a Bill or Payment, once the Account is entered, Reckon One prefills the Tax code field with the Tax code for that Account. It is that prefilled Tax code that is disappearing when a Classification is entered.

Gotcha thanks for the detailed info @DebW

I've tried out your steps in my own book and can replicate what you've mentioned, I've pinged the Reckon One product team on this and they're taking a look.

Leave this with me for a bit and I'll keep you posted as soon as I get an update from the team.

    Hi again @DebW

The team have raised a development ticket and will work on putting together a fix for this behaviour.

It looks as though lines with items are not impacted but transaction lines that use an account are in the bills, payment, estimate, receipt, CAN & SAN screens.

The devs will investigate further and start developing a fix, I'll keep you updated on this as they make progress.

    Hi @DebW

Just wanted to let you know a fix for this has been released today. Can you please give it another go when you have a chance and let me know if it works for you?

    Cheers

    Hi Rav

Sorry, no change. Still happening as described above.

If a Bill has only one Classification applicable, it can be entered in the top field at whole Bill level. This populates the Classification field in the line to match, and the Bill can be entered normally without those fields blanking out.

It also does not seem to happen if Items are used in Bills, but Items don't work for our business. We allocate relevant amounts in Bills and Payments to Accounts only.

The issue happens when a Bill or Payment needs to be split into more than one line to allocate to different Classifications. If the top section Classification field is left blank and the various Classifications are entered or changed in the lines, certain fields disappear.

Thanks for getting back to me @DebW

I might need you to step me through this again as I've just tried a bill in my book and can no longer replicate the behaviour after yesterday's update, whereas previously I could after following your steps.

Check out my example below where I create a multi-line bill with using an account and then add a classification along with changing it after the initial selection as well.

    Hi Rav

I just tested again and you are right, it is now fixed.

I had purposely given it overnight to give the update time to register. Tested it multiple times this morning and was still happening. Posted as above at 11am, and in between then and now (1pm), it has been fixed.

Have checked both Bills and Payments, and Classification field in lines that are allocated to an Account (rather than an Item) can now be entered or changed without other fields in the transaction going blank.

Thanks for tracking this through. Now fixed. 😊
