I have been a user for many years now and functionality has slowly been reduced; are there any avenues for getting them re-instated; it seems that removing functionality that is needed by existing and longstanding customersd is nmot somethiong Sam Allert would endorse.

There ara many things tht have been removed including:

  • Historical prices
  • Saving whoe file to QIF
  • Rebuilding Payee Lists via more advanced repair options that have been removed

Please ensure Sam sees this.

I don't think it's ever been possible to export the whole file, but rather once account at a time. Or has it? I could be wrong.

What does the point on rebuilding payee lists refer to?

In much earlier versions of the Reckon Accounts Personal range software it was possible to export the QIF to contain all of the accounts, instead of one at a time.

WRT payee lists, there is some index that produces the list of payees for reporting; this can get corrupt so payees are missing and you can't report on them You used to be able to rebuild this in several ways but none now work due to reduced functuionaliy all over the place:

1️⃣ Transaction Reporting / Payee Management

    Expected

    Reality in this edition

Full Payee Reports that include all transactions

Only includes transactions linked to uncorrupted internal payee IDs. Cannot rebuild corrupted links.

Transaction by Account / Category / Date reports

Not available. Only very basic summary reports exist.

Ability to filter Payee Report by memo / category / account

Not available. Filters are extremely limited.

Automatic addition of new payees (QuickFill / auto-payee list update)

Not available; must be manually added or manually selected from existing list.

Advanced Find & Search with multiple criteria (Payee, Amount, Date, Memo, Account)

Only very basic “Find” exists. No Advanced Find, no global search, no batch export.

    2️⃣ Data Export / Import / Backup

    Expected

    Reality

Full QIF export of transactions for rebuilding or reporting

Not available (only addresses can be exported in your version).

CSV export / print register for all accounts

Not available. No Print Register or similar export exists.

Ability to rebuild / super-validate file to fix corrupted payee IDs

Not available. Validate and Copy are extremely limited; cannot rebuild list indexes.

Copy file with date ranges / all accounts / all lists

Only a few options: include prior uncleared transactions and prior investment transactions. No full rebuild of payee/account lists.

    3️⃣ General usability

    Expected

    Reality

Full Preferences / Data Entry and QuickFill options

Not present. No auto-add payees, no automatic category suggestion, no “fast entry” features.

Advanced reporting like Quicken’s Pivot-style reports

Not available. Only very basic summary reports (Income/Expense, Category Totals, etc.).

Ability to export reports to Excel or PDF directly

Minimal; only printable via built-in print dialogs, no structured export.

    Memorized/custom reports

Only basic memorized reports; limited customization.

Safe “undo” / batch edit for transactions

    Extremely limited; mostly per-transaction editing.

    4️⃣ Consequences

    • Corrupted payee IDs are essentially permanent; the built-in Payee Report cannot be fixed.
    • There is no internal workaround (no advanced Find, export, print register, or rebuild).
    • For reporting purposes, external extraction (manual re-entry or CSV/QIF export to a new file) is the only solution.
    • Any functionality that relies on internal indexing of payees, categories, or accounts is fragile and cannot be repaired from inside the product.

In short, this edition is heavily stripped-down and is really designed for basic personal finance, not detailed reporting, business-style analysis, or robust payee management. Many users expect Quicken-level features but encounter hard functional limits.

Here's another way of looking at it:

Reckon Home & Business (AU Personal) – Features Comparison

    Feature / Expectation

    Exists in Home & Business?

    Notes / Workarounds

Full Payee Reports showing all transactions

    ❌ Limited

Only shows transactions linked to uncorrupted internal payee IDs; corrupted IDs cannot be repaired inside the file.

Transaction by Account / Category / Date reports

Not available; only very basic category/summary reports. Workaround: manually extract transactions via copy/paste.

Advanced Find / Search (multi-field, global)

Only basic Find exists; no global/advanced search. Workaround: manual per-transaction review.

    Automatic payee addition (QuickFill)

Not available; payees must exist in the list or be manually selected.

Automatic category suggestions / smart entry

    Not available.

    QIF Export of all transactions

Only addresses can be exported in this version. No full transaction export.

    CSV Export / Print Register

Not available. Manual copy/paste from transaction views is the only way to get data out.

    Super Validate / Rebuild file

Validate and Copy cannot rebuild corrupted payee/index tables.

    Copy File with full options

Only two options: include prior uncleared transactions, include prior investment transactions. No full account/list rebuild.

    Memorized/custom reports

    ✅ Limited

Can memorize a report, but customization is basic.

Report filters (by payee, memo, category, account, date)

    ❌ Very limited

Only some basic date or category filters in certain summary reports.

Export reports to Excel / PDF

    ❌ Minimal

Only via “Print” to PDF or manual copy/paste.

    Undo / batch transaction editing

    ❌ Limited

Can edit transactions one by one. No batch edits for payees/categories.

Safe handling of corrupted payee IDs

No internal tool to fix broken payee links. Only solution: rebuild file via export/import.

Multiple accounts / investment accounts support

Basic support exists. Limited reporting and copy/export options.

    Pivot-style reporting / cross-tab summaries

Not available. Must use Excel or manual calculations.

Automatic internal list maintenance (payees, categories)

    Must be managed manually.

    Key Takeaways

    1. Structural Limitations
      • Corrupted payee IDs, mislinked transactions, and incomplete Payee Reports cannot be repaired internally.
      • Validate or Copy tools are too simple to rebuild the internal indexes.
    2. Reporting Limitations
      • No transaction-by-account, by-category, or advanced filtering reports.
      • No built-in way to export all transactions for external analysis except via manual copy.
    3. Workarounds
      • Use manual copy/paste of transaction lists into Excel and build your own PivotTables.
      • For a permanent fix, rebuild a new file via QIF/CSV import, which will reconstruct payee IDs from scratch.
    4. General Reality
      • This edition is really intended for basic personal finance tracking, not robust reporting, auditing, or business-style account management.
      • Many users expecting Quicken-level functionality will encounter multiple hard limits.

... What is all that? A chatgpt write-up? Are you a bot?

No I'm not a bot but I spent a long time with ChatGPT trying to solve my problem and we kept coming across functionality that used to be there and wasn't in the latest version. So when you guys kindly replied to me and showed interest, I ask ChatGPT to summarise the missing functionality that we had discovered so I pasted it in here for your interest.

    Fair enough.

Look I empathise with you as I'm somewhat in the same boat although I've moved on to using Reckon One and Reckon Accounts Hosted for the most part which are vastly superior software but don't have share tracking.

I think it's been established on a few occasions in this forum that this software is now at the end of its cycle when it comes to anything new.

    I looked at

Reckon One and Reckon Accounts Hosted

a while back and there was no upgrade path so I would lose my history
