Unrecoverable Error 16681 78290 / trying to edit a transaction.
Using Reckon Accounts Premier, current version.
I am trying to edit a transaction but it keeps causing Reckon to shutdown with an Unrecoverable Error 16681 78290
First presented when trying to reconcile the bank. Have since tried to open the 'cheque' and had the same thing, have tried to enter the transaction via reports and the same thing, have tried to enter via the GL and had the same thing.
Nothing is open in the background.
How can I delete the transaction?

Update: we have verified the data and it was clean. Backup no problem, restore no problem.
Transaction still a problem!

I have experienced this myself many times over the years and you have certainly tried everything I would have. You may have to do a journal to reverse the entire entry and then re-enter the correct one

If a transaction is crashing when you attempt to view it:
- attempt removing the transaction from the account register (without opening it)
- go to the account register (such as the bank account, if it is a cheque transaction)
- locate the transaction by highlighting it in the register without opening it
- press the CTRL+D key to delete the transaction
- if the deletion does not crash, then that is a good sign, you can re-create the transaction again
- if the deletion results in a crash, then the damage will require a chargeable data file repair service
- Raise a data service request via the web form Data Services Request Form | Support | Reckon AU and include the specific details about the transaction and reference this Community Post

Thank you, we were able to delete it via the general ledger. Everything is working fine now.

Glad to hear the procedure has worked well for you.
Ensure you keep up with regular backups that include the 'Complete Verification' option enabled.
