Unable to send invoices from Reckon Accounts Premier Edition 2019 Software using Office 365 Outlook
am using Reckon Accounts Premier Edition 2019 and send invoices from this software using Outlook. When I try to send an invoice, I get an error: There is no default email client. I have the same issue on two different computers on which Office 365 is installed. It used to work for me when I had office 2013 installed but ever since I upgraded to Office 365, this functionality seems to have broken. I do not encounter this error if I try to send a file using “Send to mail recipient”. I can send pdf attachment using Adobe reader as well and do not encounter the error. I have updated the Reckon Software to the latest 2019 version as well but still encounter the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lisa,
Try to confirm whether you have any specific application set as the default mail client.

Hi Lisa,
You need to confirm whether you do have the 64-bit Outlook installed.
DATA RECOVERY: How to find if the installed Outlook version is 32 bit or 64 bit
Try this knowledgebase article.
Error: there is no default email client.... when sending an email through Outlook 2010 64-bit
Alternatively, try the following:
Close both the Outlook and the Reckon Accounts software.
Perform the steps below for both the Outlook and the Reckon Accounts software.
1) Right-click on the desktop icon for that program
2) At the bottom of the context menu that appears click on Properties
3) In the properties window, click on the Compatibility tab
4) In the Settings section, enable Run this program as an administrator
5) Click on the Apply button then click on the OK button
Once you have completed the steps for each, you can start both programs.
Now try the same process of sending the email and confirm if it resolves the issue.

I had this problem and it was a nightmare, everything I read a online and tried made no difference. I think it was only after I totally uninstalled everything to do with Microsoft Office and reinstalled that I sorted it. I am using an old version of Microsoft office0

Glad you eventually sorted it out.
For some problems, it is necessary to use a process of elimination to arrive at a solution that works.

Hey Data Rec Team
I followed your instructions - and subsequently removed the setting to run as administrator - because
Error: - 6123,0
Reckon Accunts is trying to access the company file but cannot contact the database server
Great - thanks heaps for nothing
I can't resolve and can't open any existing file
What's your next suggestion0 -
For Anyone looking for a simple answer.
There seems to be no actual follow up on this thread.
I've had this problem twice now with Windows 10 (Pro and Home) and Office 365 - Outlook.
I run Reckon Accounts Premier 2021.
The simplest work around I have found is to make sure you have a 32 bit version of Microsoft Office installed instead of 64 bit.
I'm surprised no support person from Reckon has not put a post on here.
I am assuming that because Reckon is a 32 bit program, Outlook 64 bit is just not compatible.
Anyway, I hope this helps for anyone having this problem.

Definitely compatibility issue with MS Office 64-bit.
Un-install MS Office, then re-install MS Office 32-bit
See here .......

Yes Steve definitely, that's why I'm surprised no Reckon support person would not comment on this thread.
Before I upgraded, I was using Windows 7 with Office 2010-Outlook and never had that problem with the PC and those two on it. So I never bothered to check if I was running 32 bit or 64 bit office.
The article I found helpful to . Great explanation with pictures, which would be suitable even for a novice.

RESOLVED / SOLUTION
Reckon support was useless for my dad. Sending him links that didn't address his problem in the first place. Dad upgraded to 365 outlook and that's when he started receiving the "There is no default email client. blah blah blah" error.
I entered a different email address to troubleshoot if it was Reckon or the email client. A hotmail email address worked so I figured it was the server and port settings that weren't connecting for his 365 account. I fixed it by adding in the 365 server and port details smtp.office365.com / port 587 as per picture below. He has Reckon 2020 installed.
Edit>Preference>Send Form> CHANGE THE SERVER AND PORT to below:
Good luck and I hope this resolves some peoples issue.
