Portable File will not restore

Can successfully create a Portable backup.
Attempts to restore the portable file fail. After selection of the Portable file, and restore destination, Reckon immediately returns to the Open Company dialogue with no error message. No company file is restored.
Have done a fresh install of Reckon in two different environments and attempted the install.
Have moved the main company file to the two fresh installs, created the Portable backup there and attempted install.
Main company file has been fully verified, and rebuilt.
Portable file size is about 650MB. Company file is around 2GB.

Thanks for your kind offer Gerry - unfortunately I can't share the file with you. It contains information covered by Federal privacy laws. The file belongs to a client of mine (I am a developer working on Reckon integration with their client management system).

Hi,
If you have the latest Reckon Desktop version (or the exact same version as your client's), you can just need to copy the QBW file to your PC and open it with your Reckon. Shouldn't have any problem with that.

Gerry: After selection of the Portable file, and restore destination, Reckon immediately returns to the No Company Open dialogue with no error message. No company file is restored.
There is no company file to open. No errors in the log files. Just silently (and immediately - it is instantaneous) rejects the Portable file.
I have no difficulties with restoring Portable files from other sources.

if you want i can log in and watch what is happening without actually looking at the company file if that is a concern.

Easiest way is to get the full QBW from the client instead of a portable file or backup file.
Before working on the file or before retrieving a copy of the QBW file, ensure that they have performed a Verify Data operation (file integrity check) and that there are no errors detected.
If there are errors detected or the QBW file is larger than 2GB then this is likely why the portable file (QBM) or backup file (QBB) is failing to restore.
Another alternative is to reduce the file size -
