Change company details

I posted this last week but no reply and I am sure this is something that cannot be fixed without input from the Reckon team. Please advised how to proceed.

"I moved from Reckon STP to Reckon payroll app in June 2021.All went well eventually.

I need to change some details of my compay profile (eg ABN) for the new financial year.

I have submitted EOFY stuff using the old ABN but now, moving forward I want to change details before submitting any further STP pay runs.

The app says the only way to do this is via the chat group .... that I need someone at Reckon's end to facilitate this.

Please lend assistance.

Peter"

It is rare to change ABN. A new entity can have a different ABN.

    Hi @Peter_Serb

Apologies that I missed your first post on this.

Ok, once your account has been registered with an ABN, and more importantly, had submissions sent under it then we can't remove or change that ABN as we are required to retain the submission data that is tied to that ABN by the ATO.

Moving forward, if you will be creating submissions for a separate entity ie. with a different ABN from this new financial year, then my recommendation would be for you to create a brand new account on the app so that you can register this new ABN to it.

Note: this new account will need to have a different email address to the previous account with the former ABN.

    Hi Rav,

Thanks for the reply. You have been a tremendous help on a few occasions in the past.

A bit more detail to fill you in..

I have had the same ABN for 2o years and employed all my staff under that ABN. At the time when compulsory STP came in (3 yrs ago perhaps), I had a situation where my one and only employee was an overseas student. There is some rule that I cannot employ an oversease student for more than 1 year, so I decided that at the same time of starting STP with Reckon, I will 'employ' this student under my wife's ABN (since we work together anyway). Since then all STP was under her ABN. I still do all the pay runs on my phone but by logging in as my wife.

That employee is now not with us and it is just tidier for me to be the employer once again. So I am trying to get back to how I did things originally. Hence I have a regisered ABN already. My goal is to have the new STP account on my existing phone but logging in as myself with my own ABN etc. I am happy to change to my own email address etc.

I will see if simply creating a new account works. If so, happy days. If I'm having trouble I will reach out to you agian. I doný need to do anything fancy like transfer employee data accross since I only have 1 1/2 employees at the moment anyway.

    Wish me luck.

Thanks again for what you do.

    Peter

Thanks for getting back to me Peter.

From what you've mentioned above I think you should be right by just creating account for your own ABN now.

Just to confirm though, did you ever previously register (your own) ABN to any of our STP services at the time STP came into effect? eg. GovConnect, free STP app or more recently the Payroll App?

If so then I might need to take a look at that because if you attempt to register the ABN in the Payroll App now it will say its already registered.

See how you go though and yep let me know

    Cheers

    Thanks Rav.

You are 100% correct. I think I had registered one of my other emails when I erroniously signed up for Reckon One a few years ago. I looked up my sign-in for that and all is OK. Have now done the first few pay runs without a problem.

I made a slight boo-boo with the 'company name' which I can't see a way of fixing. I wrote "Dr Peter Serb and Dr Joy Gouvoussid" instead of "Dr Pe...........ssis". ie the last letter is an s not a d.

    Is this fixable?

    Hi @Peter_Serb

Cool glad to hear you were able get underway and get your first pay runs through.

In regard to the business name in your app account, I can definitely take a look but I might need to get some help from my dev team to make any corrections.

Just to confirm though, is it just the 'book' name for your Payroll App account that has been incorrectly spelled? The actual legal entity name that appears in the app for your business is correct, right?

The reason I ask is, the legal name of the entity is pulled from the ABR so that part should appear correctly, or as it does on the ABR but the 'book' name that you setup in the app for your ABN can be different.

Shoot over the ABN and I'll do a few checks.
