Printing Estimates

Options

Hi all

I've had a recent problem - only in the last week or so. We use Accounts Premier. When completing an estimate and some reports, I'll try to print, but get an error message and I have to close the program.

I've tried to change printer settings, but as soon as I try that, I get the same message & close.

There is an error message/log that comes up that is almost 3 pages long.

Anyone had this happen or know what I can do please?

Are you verifying your Company File (eg data) ? This needs to be done regularly as corruptions, glitches like this & broken connections between transactions can occur over time (just like on your PC files, without defragmenting)

Run the Verify Data tool (under the File dropdown menu > Utilities). It will check for issues & advise to Rebuild your data file if it detects any errors. Even if it doesn't, run the Rebuild Data (also under the File dropdown menu > Utilities) 3 times - This fixes a lot of issues!

Thanks Shaz. I leave the file open when I leave and didn't know that the boss isn't verifying before he closes of an afternoon. I've tried verifying & it hangs for 5 minutes or so then freezes, so I have to shut down. Same thing happens when I try to do a rebuild.

The file is the another computer. Unsure if that makes a difference? I'll be doing it on that one also.

It's common for both the Verify & Rebuild processes to take a while (for some, even overnight if the file is very large &/or not maintained regularly) & also for it to say "Not Responding", even though it actually is still going 🙄

The file is the same one, regardless of which PC you access it from, however, the process time may be reduced if you can do it from the PC it's stored on.

When you encounter an error message, take note of exactly what it says or take a screenshot.

If you are encountering an error message when printing "estimates and some reports", you need to clarify what specific reports you have problems with and which one are generating successfully.

Knowing specific information allows for a more informed direction in the troubleshooting process and helps those reading about the problem as it may help them remember a similar issue that they have dealt with.

Ensure that you are in single-user mode and logged in as the Admin user when performing file maintenance tasks such as the Verify Data and Rebuild Data.

Ensure you get a copy of the resulting QBWIN.LOG that will show what issues if any were detected and corrected.

This is is useful to provide when engaging the assistance of the Technical Support Team or if the issue is escalated to the Data Recovery Team

This is the error message I get. Unfortunately we're super busy & I've not done any of the reports that throw up the same error. The report from the message is a few pages long.
