Risks in using API /Market Place add ons

Hi, I read about how good some of these add ons are but could someone point me in the direction of where I can learn more about understanding & minimising the risks in using market place add ons?

    Our add-on integration partners are part of our Developer Program which means they have access to dev resources, documentation and support on our end when it comes to integrating their solution/service with our software using the Reckon API.
