Hi everyone!

To ensure the ongoing security and functionality of Reckon Accounts Hosted, we recently upgraded the Microsoft Office spreadsheet and letter templates integration with more modern technology.

This update will affect the fonts available in Reckon Accounts Hosted from 13 December 2023.

If you have custom form templates, please review your fonts and if required, update them to one of the 150+ available fonts before this date. For a full list of these fonts and instructions on modifying your template please see our article below here -

ℹ️ Supported Fonts for Reckon Accounts Hosted

If you have a template with an unsupported font after the above date, the below message will appear when printing or emailing to let you know there is an unsupported font in your template.

If you click OK on the above message, the specified unsupported font will change to a default font automatically on that email/print job and will still be printed/emailed.

Default templates will not be affected, and do not require updating.

If you have any questions or concerns please let us know below.

This is presented as a "security and functionality" upgrade, but the implications are significant. By not allowing your clients to retain their brand image and typeface on their documentation, you are having a significant impact on our identity.

It's 2023 - I would expect the opposite to have happened and Reckon to allow upload of any verified and virus-free font so that your clients can express their brand throughout their collateral.

This is a real step backwards and another example of Reckon thinking like accountants, not a fully integrated business software solution.

We also run 7 companies and have ~20 templates in each, so this will require days of work to "fix" a non-existent problem.

    Not happy.

    Hi there @JTB346

We wanted to give our customers as much notice as possible on this and for the majority of folks it won't make an impact however for some users it may require an update to some custom templates. I do sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Just to be clear however, after 13 December 2023 there will still be over 150+ supported fonts available in the Reckon Accounts Hosted for use in templates and a print/email can still be completed with an automatic change to a default font mentioned above.

The recent update to Office integration for Reckon Accounts Hosted was a necessary one, not only to ensure Hosted is future-proofed but to also update its functionality including the ability to export in XLSX format which has been a longstanding user request.

    thanks for the response.

i still think that not allowing a business to communicate with its clients in its own font - whatever that font may be - is a step backwards.

my custom templates were originally set up in reckon in arial narrow - which was a reckon supported font - and therefore some of my column widths will only accept a narrow font.

this change means that i will have to manually amend approximately 100 templates which is a significant issue.

thanks again for the follow up

@JTB346 I can understand your frustration however in all fairness, it's likely due to updates by other providers (eg Microsoft & other integrating 3rd parties - including hosting & coding) that have necessitated Reckon needing to make this change in order for Hosted's current functionality & future development to continue. As we all know, technology frequently changes & updates & sometimes things become unsupported or incompatible if not kept up-to-date.

As Rav mentioned, the system will include a prompt to automatically update the font for you when sending or printing so hopefully this will be similar to the one you're using & solve the issue, so that you don't need to edit your templates manually 😢 🤞

So this morning I had printing problem looked like the page was freezing on investigation underneath the process popup was another error message about the font not being supported I tried going into templates to edit the font I am still getting the error message...this is annoying and not sure what I am doing wrong. I have not got time at this time of the year to be stuffing around with fonts and templates. I know I was warned but I was was pretty sure I used basic fonts nothing out of the usual so I did not pay much attention...I guess will now pay the cost of my inaction.☹️

Took me 26 minutes to change 1 of my templates as i had to click on every field and manually change the font and size as "arial narrow" is no longer supported.

I have 58 custom templates in total.

That's almost a full working week of manual data clicking for no logical reason.

    Thanks, Reckon.

This is crazy, I don’t have to worry about it but I feel sorry for people like you. You don’t get the option to change all related fonts when you are customising?

I've changed my font in 3 of my templates to one that is in the list, but still get the message re the old font I was using! I went into every text box and changed it, took quite some time, and I've checked a few times and the new font is showing in the templates. Did this on Tuesday and today still getting the messages, given up checking am now just clinking Ok to print anyway.

    Hi @JTB346

If you change the fonts on the Basic Customisation window to change all fields of a certain type at the same time, does that speed up the process for you at all?

NEILR I thought that is what I tried and still got the error message but I did not delve into it to much will have to look into it further when I have the time,

I'm still getting the error message - only in my custom estimate template, even after changing all the fonts in the template

    @Sonya Herbert

    Hi Sonya,

I haven't had any reports of any issues like this, so I'd say there must be one (or more) fields that have been missed.

If you cant find the font, let me know and we might have to get a copy of your template sent in so we can have a look and see if we can find where the font is.

Re Sonya's message, I commented on this happening on the 15th and it is still happening. As per my original message I am still clicking OK to print. Having to go into every text box takes enough time as it is, and I have rechecked one of my templates, but don't have the time to check the others. I didn't bother commenting again on it, as this also takes up time I don't have at the moment, being the busiest time of the year for me.

    Hi @Glenys

Are you able to export the Template you're having the issue with and email it through to neil.rustidge@reckon.com and i'll have a look and see if I can figure out whats happening.

I've attached an image showing where you go to export the template.

Just went back into my Invoice and found 1 text box that I hadn't changed!! Changed it, closed down and when I went back in, printed an invoice and all good no message. Sorry should have checked again before commenting again.

    @Sonya Herbert

In my above message there's a screen shot attached showing where the export function is.

From the Templates list, highlight the Template, click the Template button and select Export.
