TERMINATING A CASUAL EMPLOYEE

I was wondering if terminating a casual employee with no pay owing was a straightforward procedure.

I believe I would follow the same procedure with making someone redundant minus all the tax and other details (unused leave, long service etc)

Help on this would be appreciated.

    Hi @JEN

Reckon Payroll allows you to terminate an employee and create the termination payrun at the same time or later on if you wish.

Check out an overview of the termination process in Reckon Payroll with our how-to video below -

    Hi Rav,

I watched that video already and the example they used is for termination of a redundant full-time employee.

I'm guessing terminating a casual employee with no leave to pay out will be straightforward as nothing is owed to them.

That's correct, you follow the same process as outlined in the video for any/all employees.

Provided that you haven't added any active leave items to the casual employee in their profile then leave won't appear in the termination pay run.

    Thanks, Rav.

I just wanted to be sure so I don't stuff things up. :)
