Why does the MFA code on Reckon Payroll App get sent to a number not known to me?

Hi,

I have Reckon One and can access via portal (authenticator app= MFA). I downloaded the Payroll app from App Store and tried to sign in. I got to the MFA page and 1) error message states that MFA code send to a mobile number failed and 2) I noticed the mobile number the MFA code sent to is not a number known to me, it ends in '111'.

Can this be explained? Does the App only support SMS MFA? where is this code going to?

Thanks

Hi @KLS, welcome to the Reckon Community 🙂

You're exactly right, the Reckon Payroll mobile app currently only supports MFA via SMS at this stage. If you currently use an authenticaor app like Google or Microsoft Authenticator to sign into Reckon One, and attempt to sign into the mobile app, it will display a generic number ending in 111 for the MFA challenge.

In order to use the mobile app you will need to revoke your existing MFA method from an authenticator app and then set it up again as SMS. We've got some info on how to revoke MFA here - https://help.reckon.com/article/rf7i482qcc-kba-5698-revoking-the-multi-factor-authentication-mfa-for-use-on-another-device

I'd also recommend adding a feature request to our Reckon Mobile Ideas page if you'd like to see MFA options expanded for the mobile app.
