Monthly payroll

I need to change an employee from monthly to fortnightly pays. One I could change after processing the most recent pay, but the other I can't change. Also, with A/L and P/L accruals, there is no choice for accruing per ordinary hour (only every hour worked)

Isn’t accrue by ordinary hour the same as every ordinary hour worked. If you have an overtime rate on which you don’t want to accrue just set that in the rate details

Thanks for that. What about the changing employee from monthly to fortnightly? Can I copy an employee's details and slightly change the name, so as not to have to set everything up again?

@Wendy Noooooo ... DON’T Create another employee record! That will cause STP issues.

Just change the frequency in their employee record 😊

I tried that but Reckon won't let me change to fortnightly. That was in my original request.

Make sure you have removed the employee from any scheduled pay runs - in this case fortnightly

The employee wasn't on any scheduled pay runs.

The only way I see out of this, is to terminate the monthly paid employee, and re-employee him as a fortnightly employee (different employee number etc)

What error message are you getting when you try to change the pay frequency?

    @Wendy

Unfortunately I don't have a solution to your problem.

But like Shaz mentions above I would be extremely nervous about terminating the employee creating a new employee record. As well as the STP issues she has mentioned I would be concerned about the "law of unintended consequences" leading to another problem. Small consolation but can the Help Desk or @Rav provide any guidance

Thanks, but that doesn't really solve my problem. I need to change the employee to fortnightly and Reckon won't let me. I have read all the other responses but none solve my problem. Perhaps if I set the employee up with a fortnightly pay schedule Reckon will let me change to fortnightly?

    Hi Wendy,

    Reckon won't let me.

To clarify the above, when you say the software won't allow you to, what is happening specifically? Are you encountering an error message? If so, what is it? Can you post a screenshot here if possible.

What is the specific process you are going through on your attempt to change it?

I go into the employee's file and try to change to fortnightly, but I'm not being given the option. I had already changed another employee to fortnightly but this employee I can't

The screen just blanks it out. I will screen shot when I can if that helps

    Hi Wendy

Yes, please upload a screenshot of the "Payroll Schedule" & "Pay Frequency" fields.

Well, I am amazed. I went to the employee file to screen shot and, I have now been able to change to fortnightly! I really appreciate everyone's assistance.
