Super Guarantee for employees under 18 on Payroll App

Hi Rav, I'm trying to process a pay cycle for an under 18 that works less than 30 hours a week; how do I delete the default Super Guarantee? Cheers

    Hi @iangc

    I'd recommend that you create a custom earnings item for this situation as using the default ordinary earnings item will calculate super on any earnings now that the threshold has been removed.


    You can create custom items by going into Settings ➡ī¸ Earning items and I'll outline my suggestion below -

    • Create a new item with the earning type as 'ordinary'
    • Name it something unique such as Under 18 less than 30 hours or whatever you like that is indefinable to both you and the employee (as it will appear on their payslip)
    • Ensure that tax applicable is ticked
    • Under super preferences leave the 'include in super guarantee calculation' unticked
    • Once created, select this earning item for the appropriate employee in their pay run. Super will not be calculated on any earnings using this item.

    Just one other point to add to the above.

    If this employee works over 30 hours in the week then use the default ordinary earnings item so that super is calculated.
