What is the recommended procedure when changing passwords?
We recommend that before you change the password for the Admin user:

1) Log off all users / close the data file
· Click the File menu then click Close Company/Logoff
2) Open the company file once more and login
· Click the File menu then click Open or Restore Company
· Now login as the Admin user using your currently known password (if one is set)
3) Create a backup of the company data file before changing the password
· add a suffix or prefix to the backup file name
· add a suffix or prefix to the backup file name
· to indicate backup of the file prior to the Admin user having its password changed
· example: “Before PWD Change <todays date> – My Data File Name.QBB”
· you can store a backup file to a local hard drive, portable hard drive/USB stick
· you can store a backup file to an online file storage such as DropBox, Google Drive, etc
4) Just before you about to change the password
· write down the current password
· write down the new one you are setting it to
5) Set a new password for the Admin user
· Click the Company menu and then select Change Your Password
· Take note of the state of the Num Lock and Caps Lock keys on the keyboard
· Passwords are case-sensitive
· Change the password to the new one you want to now use
6) Log off all users / close the data file
· Click the File menu then click Close Company/Logoff
7) Open the company file once more and login as the Admin user
· Click the File menu then click Open or Restore Company
· Now login as the Admin user using your newly set password
8) If a problem occurs and it does not allow you access, you can restore the backup
example: “Before PWD Change <todays date> – My Data File Name.QBB”
9) If you are able to login successfully, make a new backup of the company file
· add a suffix or prefix to the backup file name
· example: “After PWD Change <todays date> – My Data File Name.QBB”
· you can store a backup file to a local hard drive, portable hard drive/USB stick
· you can store a backup file to an online file storage such as DropBox, Google Drive, etc
