Re: Not finding backup files
Hi @Rob Chapman
We have a help article with simple step by step instructions on how to restore a backup file here. Let me know how you go.
How to restore a backup file (RKN) in Reckon Accounts Personal Range
Re: Not finding backup files
I could be wrong about this but I believe the Find Reckon Accounts Files option will locate QDF files rather than backup .rkn files.
If you know the file is on your desktop, is there a particular reason you're looking for it?
Are you trying to restore the backup to open the file? If so, are you selecting the option to restore via File ➡️ Restore Backup file?

Re: Workflow improvement suggestion – STP and Payday Super export
Just to clarify, this wouldn’t replace or remove the existing Super Data Report workflow.
Users could still go to Employees → Super Data Export and run or review reports as they do now (or potentially preview from the pay run screen).
The goal here is simply to reduce the risk of error by using the same pay run context and date selection already defined in the STP event, rather than requiring users to manually recreate it in a separate screen.

Glad it got sorted Phil
Re: What is the advantage of Beam with Reckon One?
It's quite good Kris. I've got a couple of clients using it with Reckon One and because it's connected it makes it quite easy
Re: Fixing Invoice Email error. 550 5.7.1 Policy-DT510: Rejected content policy violation
Well I think my issue is fixed, I resent a past invoice that my customer had received from a few weeks ago. That invoice emailed successfully, so I then emailed the current new invoice and that sent successfully.
Re: PayPal fees. Why is the rate advertised at 2.6% when we are paying 2.9%?
Thanks for your post - we understand why this has raised concerns, and we appreciate you taking the time to outline them.
First, we acknowledge that our Online Payments page is outdated and references a 2.6% + 30c rate that no longer reflects PayPal's standard pricing. We apologise for the confusion this has caused and are reviewing the page to ensure it is updated.
That said, based on your earlier Community post from 8 July 2025, it appears you were already aware that PayPal's applicable fee was 2.9% + 30c, including that these fees would need to be absorbed by the business once PayPal payments were enabled.
To clarify more broadly:
- PayPal fees are set and charged directly by PayPal, not Reckon.
- Reckon does not set or control PayPal's transaction rates.
- The fee charged is determined by PayPal.
We appreciate your feedback and understand the importance of clear and accurate information when making payment decisions. If you'd like to discuss your account further or have questions about available payment options, our Support team would be happy to help.
Thanks again for engaging with us and helping us improve our documentation.
