Excel Reports truncated

We're using Reckon Accounts Enterprise 2021 and when we export our customer list to Excel, the customer "Note" (eg. Customer Notepad) field/cell in each row is truncated to 256 characters when the data arrives in Excel, and all it shows after 256 characters is #####. We are using Excel 2007 and according to Microsoft's website, Excel 2007 supports 32,767 characters per cell. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help :).

Hi James,

When you are 'exporting' your Customer List to Excel, are you doing this by generating a specific report which you have customised from the Reports menu and clicking the Export button send it to Excel?

Or are you using the built-in function by clicking the File | Utilities | Export |Lists to IIF File function?

And then opening up the resulting Customer List in Excel.

If you use the export of the Customer list to IIF, it should show more than 256 characters.

Thank you for this helpful information. Just to clarify, when exporting lists to IIF, can you also export all the custom fields at the same time?

The Custom Fields present in the Customer, Supplier, Employee, Other Name list records are exported as part of those lists.

Explore the different list types by using a blank new test data file with limited specific information, so you can see what gets exported and how the info you enter into the Reckon Accounts data file maps out to the export files.
