I am trying to setup bank payments from our Reckon Hosted in New Zealand. We bank with Kiwibank, can someone tell me first if this is possible? and secondary where I can find literature on how to do this, as https://help.reckon.com/ appears to be mostly directed to Reckon One.

    Hi Shaz

Thank you for your reply. However, I am trying to do the opposite to this. I should have been clearer.

I am trying to make payments from Reckon Hosted. Ie taking the Accounts payable listing selecting specific creditors/ bills and then producing a file that I can upload to Kiwibank. Similar to what can be done in MYOB and Pronto with batch payments to creditors. Do you have a guide for this?

As we currently do not have bank numbers attached to creditors in Reckon I wanted to know if I can get this to work prior to going through the process of having these added.

    cheers

    Aaron

Aha ... OK, what you're referring to is creating an ABA file 😁

If you type "Create online banking ABA" into the Ask box (upper right) within Reckon Accounts Hosted, this will take you to the internal Help files. Click on the first entry in the list "Set up Suppliers so you can pay them online" & this will display some info on it.

You have a good point though - I was unable to find a specific, how-to guide on this anywhere!

@Rav can you please provide a link to detailed info on this ????

The equivalent to ABA files for NZ users is an RTL file and I'll link a guide on this below. However, I note that Kiwibank is not listed as a bank in the guide. Nonetheless I'd suggest giving it a try and see how you get on.

    Hi All

I have been trying to get this working to no avail. Is there any chance that the file format for upload into Kiwibank is in the works?

    regards

    Hi Aaron,

Sorry to hear its not working out for you so far. What is happening specifically when you try? ie. are you encountering an error message etc?

It might be worth having a chat with our technical support team (0800 933 666) if you're running into a problem that is causing it to fail.

    Hi

I use it for ANZ bill payments, the RTL has Kiwi bank listed it will be the same. The explanation is a bit convoluted. What I recommend you do - ensure you set up bank (KIWI in this instance) as online bank.

Note: I have not contacted the bank, I enter no APCA numbers or Yodlee etc...

Then go to pay bills - any bill - stick any valid bank account in it, ensure that you are paying using this online account

sorry that SNIPS messy, but you get it- click pay selected bills - the bill pay screen will come up and just click done.

Go to banking and selected online banking centre, and you will see a screen like this. Now this is where in NZ things get different. Click on the Create ABA file and save it. I'm using reckon hosted so I have to download this file to my desk top to be able to do next bit.

Now download RTL which sits on your desktop and it's purpose is to convert the ABA file to something that can be used in the NZ banking system. Without it you can't get your file to upload to the bank.

When you have the utility, just go through the tabs, at validate select the kiwi bank one as above, the file at the end will be called a bankfile.txt, save it to desktop or wherever. Go to your bank and log in and find where you upload your payments, and follow those prompts, which at some point will require you to up load the .txt file. (Note if you don't go through each tab and run each step, the file is corrupt in someway- so you have to actually do each step).

I know when I first went to do this I got hung up on the go online button, ringing the bank the APCA numbers etc... As you can see you don't use them. Hope this helps
