Logging into client's Hosted account - MFA
HI everyone I was hoping that someone knows how to do this
I currently log into my clients Reckon Hosted using their log in when MFA comes in the code will go to their app or phone
How do i set it up so that the code comes to me ?
I tried setting myself up as a user so i could share their file with me but reckon wanted me to pay $959 . As i am a partner i am not doing that . It is much easier in the purple program to send an invitation and then you can log in with your own credentials and get the mfa . why is this so difficult to work out. I have 2 clients on reckon hosted

Morning @judithh
Just to clarify, since you've mentioned you're a partner then I assume you have your own Reckon Accounts Hosted account correct? If that's the case, is there a particular reason you're logging in using the client's login rather than having the file shared from the client to your own Hosted account and therefore logging into Hosted with your own login credentials?
Doing so, would allow you to access Hosted under your own login/account and once MFA kicks in you'll have your own MFA associated with your account as well.
Edit: I've just asked the team to have a quick look and it looks like you still have a remaining Hosted licence with your partnership that you're entitled to for your business (only). Would you like us to provision this so you can have the client share the file to it? As mentioned, this will allow you to access the shared file from your own login (and your own MFA).

Just to add here ... whilst it's problematic, unfortunately this "secure MFA" is something the ATO is requiring software companies to implement, so it's not Reckon just trying to be difficult π¬

I do believe thatβs the case but funnily enough I have had no notices with Quickbooks online regarding this

QBO does have it but - at the moment - with an option to also disable it ... so it may be that currently, you have it disabled ? Not sure how long that will be an option for - I know it's already compulsory in Xero π¬

I can't really speak for other software and there isn't great deal of public info around this in all honesty but there's tiny bit of detail here on some of the requirements for MFA although this info is more aimed at software developers rather than users of software/business owners.
I definitely understand mandatory MFA is going to be an adjustment that takes some getting used to and in some cases viewed as an added inconvenience, but ultimately its an advancement in the security of your data in Hosted which is a massive benefit but at the same time a requirement that we need to comply with.

Its just easier to this in other software . the purple 1 has had it for ages and easy to link clients by them just sending me an invitation.
π I am finding it really difficult to share a clients file with me and i am not an idiot.
I am already a partner and have my own file

I hear you @judithh
All the others are cloud products though, which makes sharing simpler as they're completely "online".
Whilst to us (the end users) it's an "online" experience in Hosted, we're all actually accessing Reckon's servers every time we login, so it's a little more complicated than the others π

So @judithh you donβt actually have a Reckon user account, only a file, is that correct? The file sharing comes into it after you have logged on, and as you found out itβs now over $900 per year . When we logged on using the clientβs username and password it was easier, but the MFA code can only go to one user, and so to do that they have to pass on the code to be able to login
