#TipTuesday - Keyboard Shortcuts ⌨️✂️

It’s time again for #TipTuesday.

Today’s tip covers some useful and frequently used keyboard shortcuts, that may be useful in your day to day activities or when in consultation with the Technical Support Team for troubleshooting assistance.

Opening the software without loading the last opened file

Hold down the CTRL key when the program is in the process of launching.

Opening a company data file (no screens from last session)

Hold down the ALT key when the data file in the process of opening.

Display the Chart of Accounts

Hold down the CTRL key and press the A key then release both keys

Copy the selected or highlighted text to the clipboard

Hold down the CTRL key and press the C key then release both keys

Display the Find screen based on the context of the screen that is currently in focus or active

Hold down the CTRL key and press the F key then release both keys

Display the Transaction History screen for the currently highlighted or active transaction

Hold down the CTRL key and press the H key then release both keys

Paste the contents of the Reckon Accounts Hosted remote clipboard

Hold down the CTRL key and press the V key then release both keys

Cut or delete the highlighted text in the field in which the cursor is currently active

Hold down the CTRL key and press the X key then release both keys

Display the Transaction Journal report screen for the currently highlighted or active transaction

Hold down the CTRL key and press the X key then release both keys

Undo the changes made in the field in which the cursor is currently active

Hold down the CTRL key and press the Z key then release both keys

Display the in-Product Help based on the context of the screen that is currently in focus or active

Press and release the F1 key when the program is in a specific screen to display relevant help information.

Hold down the CTRL key and press the number 1 key (not the keypad numbers) then release both keys

Display the Product Information screen

Press and release the F2 key when the program is already open with a specific company data file loaded.

  1. The Product information shows the Product Name and Edition, along with the Year version and the Release value which indicates if there have updates applied to the software since it was initially rolled out.
  2. Under the File Information section, the company data file name and location can be found.
  3. Additional information about the data File Size, Total Transactions count, DB File Fragments is also available.
  4. The Versions Used on File can provide a historical snapshot of what the data file has been through over the years such when it was created or upgraded from a version such as V19.09D R1 to V32.0D R1, and even when it had undergone a Rebuild Data operation (RB).
  5. The List Information section provides an at-a-glance indication of the total number of records stored for different list types.

Refresh the currently active report screen

Press and release the F5 key when there is a report currently displayed.

Initiate the Rebuild Data operation

Hold down the ALT key and press the F, U, R keys sequentially then release all keys

Initiate the Verify Data operation

Hold down the ALT key and press the F, U, V keys sequentially then release all keys

Generate the Trial Balance report

Hold down the ALT key and press the R, A, B keys sequentially then release all keys

Generate the Transaction List by Date report

Hold down the ALT key and press the R, A, B keys sequentially then release all keys

Generate the Open Invoices report

Hold down the ALT key and press the R, C, O keys sequentially then release all keys

Close all open windows

Hold down the ALT key and press the W and A keys sequentially then release all keys

Using the in-product Help to find out other keyboard shortcuts

Click on the Help menu and then Reckon Accounts Help

In the Index tab, enter the keyword keyboard then select keyboard shortcut  from the list.
